  • Optimizing database performance and ensuring the efficiency of queries and storage mechanisms.
  • Working closely with product and frontend teams to build seamless and high-performing user experiences.
  • Improving CI/CD pipelines to enhance deployment and operational workflows.
  • Mentoring and guiding engineers on best practices and contributing to the overall architecture of our platform.

We’d love to hear from people with

  • 8+ years of professional experience in backend development, specializing in PHP and Python.
  • Strong expertise in modernizing and maintaining PHP applications, including WordPress-based and standalone web applications.
  • Experience with Python-based microservices and backend frameworks (e.g., Flask, FastAPI, Django).
  • Proficiency in RESTful API design and working with API integrations.
  • Solid experience with MySQL or PostgreSQL, including query optimization and performance tuning.
  • Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) for scalable application deployments.
  • Experience implementing testing frameworks for backend services (PHPUnit, PyTest, etc.).
  • Strong debugging and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot legacy systems.
  • Interest in collaborating across teams, mentoring junior engineers, and driving technical excellence.

SurveyMonkey believes in-person collaboration is valuable for building relationships, fostering community, and enhancing our speed and execution in problem-solving and decision-making.
