Management Consulting, Junior Operations Associate

The role

As an Operations Consultant, you will be an integral part of the operations team dedicated to supporting the client-facing Management Consulting team. You will report directly to the Senior Operations Manager and work closely with senior stakeholders, collaborating across departments such as People Operations, Finance, and Resourcing. This is a high-growth opportunity with exposure to strategic initiatives and regular involvement in business planning cycles.

Teneo’s Management Consulting division advises executive-level clients on strategic topics across a range of issues central to the success of their business. Our clients include a significant number of major global corporations across a diverse array of sectors and leading government and public sector entities.

The role involves collaborating with practice leads, Managing Directors and others from across the business, to ensure that projects are staffed with the right people, with the right skills at the right time – making decisions that balance the needs of our clients, our people and the wider Management Consulting (and Teneo) business.

 

Key responsibilities

  • Day-to-Day Operational Support
    • Support the day-to-day running and operational initiatives across the Management Consulting division, ensuring smooth coordination and delivery
    • Recommend and implement improvements to operational processes to enable greater automation, efficiency, and self-service for the client-facing team
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g. People, Finance, Resourcing) to ensure alignment, seamless operations, and delivery against strategic goals
  • Internal Reporting & Business Metrics
    • Develop and maintain internal reporting dashboards to track key performance and business-unit metrics
    • Support capacity analysis and maintain an accurate, up-to-date view of team utilisation, project profitability, and case metrics
    • Ensure accuracy of core business data and maintain a clear view of the revenue pipeline, feeding this into capacity and profitability mapping
  • Growth Initiatives & Strategic Projects
    • Provide analytical and modelling support for ad hoc business and strategic growth initiatives
    • Contribute to document development and presentations for leadership and senior stakeholders, supporting operational and change management communications
    • Participate in the implementation of key initiatives, collaborating across teams to ensure operational changes are well-coordinated, embedded, and measurable

 

Key skills and experience

  • Basic Qualifications:
    • 2+ years experience in an operations role in a busy professional services organisation or consultancy. Or, someone who has been client facing in a Management Consulting or Professional Services organisation and is looking to move into operations
    • Proven track record of problem-solving capabilities
    • Experience of stakeholder management
    • An aptitude for analysis and understanding and processing data with analytical rigor
    • Experience of operating at a fast pace, and the ability to prioritise/make decisions under pressure
    • Proficient in Microsoft Suite, e.g. PowerPoint & Excel
    • Strong verbal, quantitative, and analytical skills

    • Be confident with the Microsoft Suite, e.g. PowerPoint & Excel
  • Preferred Qualifications:
    • Experience in project management including managing several stakeholders at once
    • Analytics experience (notably PowerBI)
    • Have a proven ability to manage multiple workstream
    • Ability to create an immediate, positive and credible impression on others
