SUMMARY:
Monitor and implement corrective actions for the building's mechanical systems. Actively diagnose problems and anomalies, document issues, and suggest and implement disciplinary action. Responsible for preventative maintenance and routine or emergency maintenance repairs as assigned by the Mechanical Systems Supervisor, Manager of Facilities Maintenance, or the Facilities Office. Acts as a resource for other technicians and staff to become more knowledgeable and proficient in building mechanical systems and their operation.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Monitor and implement corrective actions for the building's mechanical systems. Actively diagnose problems and anomalies to document issues, suggest and implement corrective action, and provide a comfortable environment for our visitors and staff.
- Completes Work Orders promptly and efficiently to perform preventative and corrective mechanical maintenance procedures, service, and repairs on automated systems. Assists with other related facility equipment for proper operation, ensuring continued Museum operation and a safe, comfortable, and pleasing environment for our staff and visitors.
- Assists Mechanical Systems Supervisor/ Facilities Manager with building and service specifications modifications to building maintenance and HVAC systems to help improve operation, maintenance, safety, and reliability.
- Occasional indirect supervision of staff in the absence of the Mechanical Systems Supervisor is a resource for other technicians and staff to become more knowledgeable and proficient in the building systems and their operation.
- Oversees outside mechanical contractors by scheduling, coordinating, and directing their work to ensure equipment is properly operating and provide for continual Museum operation and a safe, comfortable, and pleasing environment for our staff and visitors.
- Assists in maintaining any required repair and maintenance record logs or files to provide interdepartmental communications, work, and equipment histories.
- Assists in maintaining clean, orderly, and adequately stocked maintenance shop and facilities spaces so facilities operations can proceed safely, expediently, and tidily.
- Responsible for responding to emergency incidents on the property that may threaten the safety of staff, guests, and property. Emergency incidents include but are not limited to bomb threats, fire alarms, natural disasters, power or equipment failure, building evacuations, and other crises' as defined in the Museum's Emergency Preparedness and Management Plan (EPAMP).
- Perform other work-related duties as required by the Manager. Available for Emergencies on-call as directed to ensure continuous operation of facility systems. Must work weekends, holidays, and overtime as requested by management.
WORK SCHEDULE:
This position is full-time, 40 hours/week, Monday-Friday. Available for Emergencies 24 hours/day, 7 days/week, and 365 days/year.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Possession of a current Massachusetts Refrigeration Technician License is required.
- 5 or more years of experience maintaining building mechanical systems, hot and chilled water systems, steam heating systems, air handlers, packaged rooftop units, and other related equipment in an educational, institutional, industrial, or similar setting.
- Demonstrated ability to complete complex repairs using advanced diagnostic and repair skills for commercial mechanical systems (pumps, seals, actuators, etc.), DDC, and pneumatic controls, and extensive knowledge of commercial HVAC systems.
- Demonstrated technical proficiency in the service and repair of split refrigeration systems.
- An advanced understanding of building and equipment schematics and diagrams.
- Technical experience and working knowledge of building management systems.
