Junior Backend Engineer

The SME team at TransferGo plays a critical role in shaping how we serve our business clients. To ensure we do this in the best way possible, we are now looking for an ambitious and bright Junior Software Engineer (Backend or Full-Stack) to join our SME team. You should be eager to build and run services and/or web applications within our business domain. Web applications

NextJS
Styling: Tailwind
Testing: Playwright, Vitest
Components: RadixUI
Component tests: Storybook together with Chromatic

Here’s what you’ll be doing as Junior Software Engineer:

  • Design, build and operate services in a cloud-native, service-oriented environment, which will be used by multi-platform applications and hundreds of thousands of users
  • Enjoy a great level of end-to-end autonomy, contributing to system design, implementation approach and production operations of your services. We truly believe in the "Builders mindset"
  • Work closely with product managers, data engineers, and other stakeholders to build modern and scalable software
  • Work in a team of strong professionals - a great chance to learn from senior/staff software engineers, product and engineering managers

You’ll report to our SME team’s Engineering Manager.

Here’s what we’d love from our new Junior Software Engineer:

  • You are enthusiastic about technology and best engineering practices
  • You are curious and enjoy solving technical challenges or puzzles
  • You enjoy building products used by people
  • You are a good communicator and can use English effectively at work
  • You enjoy collaborating and sharing ideas with others in a team setting
  • You are comfortable with ambiguity and are willing to help us find the best solutions
  • You are passionate about growing your knowledge in scaling fintech companies

And if you can also do this stuff, even better: 

  • You have experience in building microservices;
  • You have experience building web applications using React or React-based frameworks (e.g., Next.js, Gatsby, etc.);
  • Have contributed to open-source projects or worked on personal coding projects you’re proud of;
  • You have experience with PHP (Laravel or Symfony);
  • You are familiar with database management systems like MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or similar;
  • You understand the basics of RESTful APIs;
  • Have worked with version control systems like Git and are comfortable with platforms like GitHub or GitLab;
  • Know the fundamentals of containerization (e.g., Docker) or cloud services (e.g., AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud);
  • Are interested in learning about DevOps practices or have tinkered with CI/CD pipelines;
  • Have some familiarity with agile development methodologies or tools like Jira, Trello, or Asana;
  • Understand basic principles of scalable system design or have explored distributed systems.
