This onsite role is based in Raleigh, NC, reporting directly to the Field Services Supervisor. The position requires flexible availability throughout the week.
Responsibilities:
- Comply with prescribed safety procedures or regulations; includes understanding of safety equipment requirements and proper use and care of PPE.
- Must be able to wear a Respirator / SCBA.
- Will be part of a rotating ER team that is on call 24/7 for one week at a time.
- Out of town travel will be required.
- Decontamination work ranging from lab spaces to pits and tanks in industrial settings.
- Confined space entry – must be able to read and understand 4-5 gas meters.
- Practice safety awareness by thinking defensively, anticipating unsafe situations, and reporting unsafe conditions immediately.
- Ability to operate a pickup truck with a small tow behind trailer.
- Load or unload materials into containers or onto trucks by hand or using equipment.
- Remove or limit contamination following emergencies involving hazardous substances.
- Maintain good housekeeping in all areas.
- Represent the company in a professional and courteous manner to customers, suppliers, regulators, and the public.
- Carry out daily job tasks assigned by Lead.
- Perform other tasks as needed in the best interest of the company.
Basic Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Must have excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Must be able to complete and maintain OSHA HAZWOPER 40-hour training and Confined Space Entry & Rescue certification.
- Current driver’s license with clean driving record and insurable in accordance with Company’s current auto insurance carrier preferred
- Must be eligible to work in the United States without future sponsorship
- Must have a reliable form of transportation
- Must be willing to consent to Motor Vehicle Record screening, criminal background check, pre-employment physical, and drug screen (inclusive of THC)
- Upon employment, you will be required to participate in a random drug screening program (inclusive of THC) as part of our company’s commitment to maintaining a safe and healthy work environment
- Must be able to lift 60 pounds on a regular basis
- Ability to work overtime on a regular basis
- Must be willing to work flexible hours within the work week (Monday through Friday)
- Must be able to report to designated office within 1 hour during Emergency Response rotating shifts
- The Field Services Technician frequently handles hazardous chemicals and biological waste and is responsible for putting on and taking off personal protective equipment. This role is considered safety-sensitive.
Preferred Requirements:
- One (1) + year(s) experience with relevant industry experience.
- Basic knowledge of chemicals and their interactions and danger signs.
- Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
- Determining the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job.
- Performing routine maintenance on equipment and determining when and what kind of maintenance is needed.
- The ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. This is not solving the problem, only recognizing there is a problem.
- The ability to concentrate on a task over a period of time without being distracted.
Working Conditions:
Lab spaces, warehouses and field environments with local and out of town travel on roads and highways during all weather conditions. Frequent customer job site visitation in great variety of industry types and levels of sanitation and cleanliness. Use of personal protective equipment is often required, and proper use and maintenance of the required PPE is mandatory for all employees.
