NGS Applications Service Lab Associate
The High Throughput Service Lab Associate will be responsible for the execution and analysis of a variety of NGS service projects across Twist Bioscience’s proprietary process workflow to meet the Twist production forecast and timelines. The High Throughput Service Lab Associate will be held accountable for performing NGS Service Lab tasks, maintaining production schedule, and troubleshooting issues within the processes. Activities will include but not be limited to: operating a variety of laboratory equipment including liquid handling robots, maintaining detailed documentation, cleaning and restocking the lab, and practicing good lab bench techniques to ensure high quality and consistent products.The ideal candidate will be driven and will do what it takes to keep the customer projects on track in a fast-paced environment. The High Throughput Service Lab Associate will be responsible for the processing of samples for NGS analysis according to established SOPs and complete manufacturing batch records to contribute to the daily production schedule.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Apply Twist’s core technologies to develop and optimize commercial kits, kit components, and/or custom products for NGS Target Enrichment, including formulation and protocols.
- Develop and optimize protocols for commercial kits and/or kit components for NGS Library Preparation Products.
- Design and perform experiments, collect data, and analyze results.
- Support day-to-day operations, service, and troubleshooting for NGS equipment.
- Digital file creation and management for NGS experiments.
- Work collaboratively with first-in-class scientists under aggressive timelines.
- Follow regulatory and ISO 13485 requirements
What You’ll Bring to the Team
- B.S. or M.S. in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry or closely-related fields.
- 3-5 years of relevant experience in the field of molecular biology in a research or clinical environment. Candidates with experience working in ISO-certified environments or Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) backgrounds are strongly encouraged to apply.
- Must have direct lab experience and background with Next Generation Sequencing Technology Platforms (e.g., Illumina, PacBio, Ion Torrent, etc.), including corresponding sample preparation techniques, preparation and management of digital files for sequencing runs, and day-to-day operation and troubleshooting of physical equipment.
- Direct lab experience with NGS Target Enrichment Workflows preferred (e.g., Twist panels, Agilent SureSelect, IDT xGen, etc.).
- Strong background in general Molecular Biology techniques including enzymatic assays, DNA separation techniques (e.g., Agilent BioAnalyzer and/or TapeStation assays), DNA purification (e.g., SPRI purification), DNA quantification (e.g., Invitrogen Qubit assays), and PCR/qPCR.

- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with aggressive timelines.
- Meticulous attention to planning, execution, and record keeping of production orders.
