About the Role:

The Contracts Intern - Legal will provide key project support to Upgrade’s commercial legal team in San Francisco. In this role, you will help build commercial contract processes, improve data-driven legal technology implementations, and work closely with attorneys and contract managers to meet legal department objectives. As an intern on the legal team, you’ll play an important role in improving a high-growth legal department’s contracting processes. You’ll learn a lot and have ample opportunity to apply it.

* Location: SF Bay Area. Hybrid work schedule: Tu/Thu in office.
*Duration: Approximately 3 months (targeting mid May through mid August)


What You’ll Do:

  • Assist with maintaining an efficient contract repository and auditing, organizing and archiving contracts in accordance with department processes
  • Track, update and improve contract data in contract lifecycle management tools
  • Assist attorneys and contract managers with routine requests and the management of contract workflow processes
  • Provide general and administrative support for legal department projects and legal technology implementations as needed


What We Look For:

  • Must currently be enrolled in an undergraduate program at a US accredited college or university, with a graduation date of Spring 2025 or later
  • 1-3 years of strong undergraduate academic performance with a demonstrated interest in the legal field
  • Basic experience with Microsoft Office products (including Excel), project management software, or contract lifecycle management (CLM) software; low-code software and/or data entry experience is preferred
  • Exceptional project management and time management acumen
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail
  • Eagerness to learn about the fintech industry and in-house commercial legal practice
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, work independently, take ownership of tasks, and meet deadlines
