Project Engineer

The Project Engineer provides critical support to the project team throughout the entire construction lifecycle. This individual will assist with project documentation, scheduling, subcontractor coordination, cost tracking, and communication to help ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, and within budget.
The ideal candidate has experience working for a commercial general contractor on ground up construction projects and is eager to continue developing their career in commercial construction.
What You'll Do:
- Support Project Managers and Superintendents throughout all phases of construction
- Assist with project startup, planning, and closeout activities
- Manage Requests for Information, submittals, shop drawings, and project documentation
- Track and distribute project documents to owners, architects, consultants, and subcontractors
- Assist with project scheduling and monitor milestone progress
- Coordinate subcontractor scopes, material deliveries, and procurement activities
- Support project budgeting, forecasting, cost tracking, and change order management
- Attend project meetings and document meeting minutes and action items
- Review construction drawings and specifications for completeness and coordination
- Help ensure compliance with contract documents, safety standards, and quality expectations
- Maintain organized project files and accurate records using project management software
- Build strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams
What You'll Bring:
- 2 or more years of experience as a Project Engineer working for a commercial general contractor
- Experience supporting ground up commercial construction projects is required
- Experience with industrial, warehouse, manufacturing, office, retail, or other commercial projects is preferred
- Strong understanding of commercial construction processes and project documentation
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
- Excellent organizational, communication, and problem solving skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Experience using Procore, Bluebeam, Microsoft Project, or similar construction software is preferred
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field is preferred
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working for a commercial general contractor
- Experience on ground up commercial construction projects
- Exposure to tilt up construction is a plus
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
- Desire to grow into a Project Manager role
