(Senior) Accountant (all genders) - General Ledger

Amsterdam; Berlin

Are you an organized and detail-oriented professional with a strong background in accounting? We are looking for an experienced accountant to join our central group reporting and international accounting team. In this role, you will play a key part in preparing and managing financial records with a particular focus on general ledgers and tax compliance, ensuring accuracy, and supporting the growth of our organization. Your responsibilities 

  • Ensure the correct commercial and tax accounting of complex issues within our group legal entities regarding local accounting policies
  • You prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements according to local GAAP for our international group entities in close cooperation with local tax advisors
  • You regularly review the monthly financial statements and results of the group entities in charge 
  • You take over the responsibility of the day-to-day business of the general ledger accounting
  • Collaborate with the business and  provide technical input to the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable as well as to the controlling teams
  • You are the contact person for auditors, local authorities and banks
  • You own responsibility for regular tax filings including VAT
  • Never not curious, you play a pivotal role in improving our main-ledger processes to support a strongly growing business by way of automation and proper documentation

What you need to succeed

  • You have successfully completed a commercial apprenticeship and graduated as an accountant or have a business degree with a focus on accounting and tax
  • You have gained at least 3-5 years of work experience in financial accounting and balance sheet preparation
  • You have a sound knowledge of local GAAP and tax law and are able to apply this knowledge confidently
  • You have a very good understanding of numbers as well as an independent, structured and solutions-driven as well as pragmatic way of working 
  • You are a team player with an all-round view and hands-on mentality
  • Excellent communication skills in German and English (spoken and written), French or Spanish is a plus
  • Proven skills with software packages (MS Office, G-Suite) and proficiency in accounting software (e.g. DATEV, Oracle, Workday) 
  • Eagerness to run projects with a strong sense of ownership
  • Experience in fast paced scale-up environments including subscription businesses is a plus
