Trade Compliance Coordinator

 Urschel, a 100% employee-owned company, is seeking a Trade Compliance Coordinator to join our team. Reporting to the Global Logistics Supervisor, this position will support daily import and export compliance activities, including documentation, screening, recordkeeping, and regulatory requirements.  This is an on-site position and requires daily attendance at Urschel’s global headquarters in Chesterton, Indiana.

Consumers purchase goods manufactured on Urschel cutting equipment on a daily basis. Job Duties:

  • Support import and export activities, including documentation review, recordkeeping, and transaction monitoring in ACE.
  • Conduct denied party screening and assist with end-use and end-user verification.
  • Maintain product classification data, including HTS, Schedule B, ECCN, and FDA codes.
  • Assist with customs corrections, regulatory filings, audits, government inquiries, and other compliance activities.
  • Provide trade compliance support to Sales, Customer Service, and Shipping, escalating potential risks or concerns as needed.

The ideal candidate will hold an undergraduate degree with a focus in International Business, Supply Chain, or Logistics.  A minimum of three years of experience in trade compliance is preferred, preferably within a manufacturing or OEM environment; experience at Urschel may be considered in lieu of direct trade compliance experience. The position requires strong oral and written communication skills, as well as proficiency in computer applications. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to work independently, possess strong analytical and organizational skills, and have a keen attention to detail. Prior experience in the export or import department of a manufacturing organization is preferred, as is experience with a freight forwarder or customs broker.
