Molding Operational Excellence Manager
Position Overview:
The Molding Operational Excellence Manager will drive continuous improvement, process optimization, and operational efficiency across all injection molding operations at the Fort Worth facility. This role leads Lean, Six Sigma, and data driven improvement initiatives that directly support the site’s key priorities: increasing OEE, reducing scrap and unplanned downtime, strengthening process stability, improving changeover performance, and enhancing workforce capability. The manager partners closely with molding production, engineering, maintenance, quality, and supply chain teams to ensure consistent execution, predictable performance, and best in class molding results. This position plays a critical role in advancing Fort Worth’s commitment to safety, quality, delivery reliability, cost discipline, and sustainable operational excellence.
Job Responsibilities:
Operational Excellence & Continuous Improvement
- Develop and deploy a comprehensive Operational Excellence strategy for injection molding operations.
- Lead Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma initiatives to improve cycle times, reduce scrap and downtime, and optimize material usage.
- Create standardized processes, work instructions, and visual management tools.
- Perform process capability studies (Cp/Cpk), DOE, and root cause analyses to resolve chronic issues.
- Implement and advance 5S, Kaizen, SMED, and TPM programs.
Process Optimization & Technical Leadership
- Analyze molding machine performance and auxiliary equipment to identify improvement opportunities.
- Partner with engineering teams to optimize process parameters for quality, repeatability, and throughput.
- Develop and maintain key process documentation, including PQ/PPAP/validation protocols.
- Improve mold changeover efficiency and ensure robust startup procedures.
Performance Management
- Create dashboards and performance metrics to track OEE, scrap, cycle time, downtime, and productivity.
- Lead daily/weekly performance reviews focusing on data driven problem solving.
- Ensure consistent monitoring, reporting, and communication of improvement results.
Team Development & Leadership
- Responsible for managing direct reports and related operational and administrative duties.
- Train and mentor team members in Lean, Six Sigma, and structured problem solving (A3, DMAIC, 8D).
- Guide cross functional teams during improvement events and Kaizen workshops.
- Build a culture of continuous learning, operational discipline, and employee engagement.
Must Have's
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Manufacturing, Industrial Technology, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in injection molding operations, engineering, or process improvement.
- 3+ years of experience managing teams in a diverse work environment.
- Demonstrated success leading Lean/CI initiatives in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong analytical skills with proficiency in statistical tools and process analysis.
- Hands on knowledge of injection molding processes, automation, molds, and auxiliary equipment.
- Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certification.
- Experience with ERP/MES systems and OEE data platforms.
- Experience facilitating Kaizen events and leading cross functional teams.
Nice to Have's
- Familiarity with scientific molding principles (e.g., RJG, Decoupled Molding) is preferred.
