About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) to join as the primary HRBP to our rapidly growing tech organization. You will lead all aspects of the people function, partnering closely with leadership to drive high performance, engagement, and organizational effectiveness. The ideal candidate will have prior experience as an HRBP in high-growth tech startups, successfully navigating rapid scaling and supporting technical talent.
As our HRBP, you will advise leadership, support managers, manage employee relations, develop performance and talent management processes, and drive initiatives that reinforce our performance-driven culture. You will be instrumental in ensuring we build scalable HR programs and practices that support our ambitious growth goals.
This role requires an individual who can operate independently, proactively solve complex people challenges, and strategically support our team as we grow. The HRBP must be equally comfortable leading strategic conversations as they are managing day-to-day HR operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the strategic partner and advisor to the tech organization on all people-related matters.
- Design, implement, and manage performance management frameworks and processes that align with our high-performance culture.
- Coach and develop managers to effectively lead their teams and handle employee relations issues.
- Build scalable people processes, including compensation reviews, performance calibration, immigration / visa sponsorship, and others.
- Partner closely with the talent team to attract and retain top technical and non-technical talent.
- Drive employee engagement and culture initiatives that reinforce Valon’s values and commitment to excellence.
- Leverage data and analytics to inform HR decisions and measure effectiveness of people programs.
- Stay current with HR best practices, employment regulations, and industry trends, ensuring Valon remains competitive and compliant.
Ideal Background
- 7+ years of HR experience, with significant experience in high-growth and high-performance tech startup environments.
- Proven success in building foundational HR programs from scratch in early-stage companies.
- Deep familiarity with performance management, employee relations, talent development, compensation strategy, and HR compliance.
- Demonstrated experience partnering with technical teams and understanding tech talent needs.
- Strong strategic and operational mindset, comfortable shifting between high-level strategy and hands-on implementation.
- Willingness to roll up sleeves and get into the weeds.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, coaching, and influencing skills.
- Highly adaptable, proactive, and able to thrive in fast-paced, rapidly changing environments.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
- At least 5 years of HR experience, including 3+ years as an HRBP in a tech startup.
- Experience managing employee relations, performance management processes, and talent development initiatives.
- Proven ability to build and scale HR processes and programs independently.
- Strong analytical skills and experience utilizing HR data to drive decisions.
- Exceptional communication skills and the ability to work cross-functionally at all organizational levels.

New York Base Compensation Pay Range
$127,000 - $172,000 USD
