LRC at Valon
The LRC (Legal, Risk, and Compliance) organization at Valon is responsible for advising our company on the various legal, regulatory, and contractual provisions that impact the business. Our team members partner closely with our operations and technology teams to provide the applicable legal, compliance, and risk frameworks that help inform our business strategies. The LRC team is also responsible for managing and responding to regulatory, client, and investor audits and examinations. As a member of the LRC team, you will work closely with internal colleagues and state regulators to coordinate, track, and complete regulatory reports, manage company and MLO licenses and registration renewals.
About this Role
We are looking to add an experienced Senior Compliance Associate to our Compliance team. In this role, you will be responsible for leading the implementation, coordination, and administration of Valon’s Vendor Management Program. This position will coordinate with IT, Security, Legal, Compliance, Risk, and Operations partners to manage the risk of all third-party vendor relationships. This role will be responsible for the third-party vendor management strategy, enhancement to the oversight program, ongoing monitoring, and reporting.
In this role, the individual will provide support in evaluating vendor risks, assessing the risk of new vendor relationships, ongoing monitoring of existing vendor relationships, and escalating and resolving vendor issues and conflicts. Valon is seeking to redefine the homeownership experience by building better technology. To that end, we expect this individual to have knowledge of operational processes, industry standards and trends, and be excited to find new ways to automate control monitoring and evaluation of vendor relationships.
Valon is looking for someone who is ready to roll up their sleeves and dive into the weeds. The right candidate is extremely detail-oriented, has excellent organizational and leadership skills, and thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. This role requires someone who can work independently as well as collaborate with teams throughout the company.
Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day responsibilities over Valon’s Third Party Vendor Management Program
- Work cross-functionally with finance, security, legal and compliance to complete vendor risk assessments for each vendor
- Coordinate and conduct annual vendor reviews and evaluations
- Develop and enhance vendor scorecard process and system
- Identify and escalate performance issues with vendor relationship owners
- Streamline and execute on due diligence and onboarding processes for vendors
- Develop and maintain a deep understanding of industry and regulatory trends in the third-party vendor management space
- Work closely with other departments, including operations, product, security, legal, compliance, and engineering, to effectively monitor vendor performance
Ideal Background
- Deep understanding of the mortgage servicing and fintech industries, including regulatory compliance and risk management
- Previous experience overseeing and implementing a third-party vendor management program
- Experience or familiarity operating industry vendor management tools
- Experience setting up scalable and efficient operational processes
- Experience creating and drafting policies, procedures, and control documents
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work cross-functionally and at all levels of the organization
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to drive complex projects to completion

New York Base Compensation Pay Range
$74,375 - $100,625 USD
