Overview

As a Software Engineering Manager, Front End on Verkada's Growth team, you will manage Verkada's online presence and drive the development of new and innovative web experiences, keeping beautiful and modern design at the top of your mind. You will work closely with our design, marketing, and broader engineering teams to scale and optimize verkada.com, experiment with highly visible UI to drive growth, and implement best practices to streamline the business.

As part of a small team, we are looking for someone who embodies a growth mindset and displays leadership potential. You should be experienced with owning projects end to end and driving strategic, data-driven decisions.

This position will be based in-person at our HQ in San Mateo, CA.

Responsibilities

    • Manage the Verkada corporate website and build beautiful and creative microsites.
    • Be a Growth Hacker - Partner with the Marketing and Design teams to create web growth hacks that result in organic and viral growth. 
    • Build and integrate with other platforms to A/B test and optimize performance.
    • Increase conversions as well as put operational processes in place.
    • Be able to roll up your sleeves and actively write code or prototype new features
    • Define and execute the technical roadmap for our web team, aligning with business goals and strategic initiatives.
    • Drive the adoption of best practices, coding standards, and development methodologies to ensure the delivery of high-quality, maintainable code.
    • Oversee the implementation of responsive web designs, ensuring compatibility across browsers, devices, and screen sizes.
    • Stay current with emerging technologies, trends, and industry developments, evaluating their potential impact on our web platforms and recommending innovative solutions.
    • Foster a culture of continuous learning and professional development within the web engineering team, encouraging knowledge sharing, skill-building, and career growth opportunities.

Qualifications

    • 2+ years experience managing, leading, and inspiring a team of engineers; including hiring, retaining, and managing performance.
    • 6+ years of professional experience in Front End Development utilizing CSS, HTML, JavaScript
    • 3+ years of professional experience with a JavaScript, front-end framework/library preferably React
    • Established experience building enterprise-level websites or web applications that are pixel perfect and responsive 
    • Attention to detail, a good eye and understanding of design
    • Expert knowledge of REST API and GraphQL
    • An understanding of how to ensure pages can be crawled efficiently for SEO purposes
    • Experience implementing B2B analytic tools and integrations (Marketo, Salesforce, Google Analytics)
    • Able to create beautiful micro animations via CSS or JavaScript
    • Experience with Gatsby JS, Next JS a plus

Pay Disclosure

At Verkada, we want to attract and retain the best employees, and compensate them in a way that appropriately and fairly values their individual contribution to the company. With that in mind, we carefully consider a number of factors to determine the appropriate starting pay for an employee, including their primary work location and an assessment of a candidate’s skills and experience, as well as market demands and internal parity. This estimate can vary based on the factors described above, so the actual starting annual base salary may be above or below this range. This estimate is also just one component of Verkada’s total rewards package. A Verkada employee may be eligible for additional forms of compensation, depending on their role, including sales incentives, discretionary bonuses, and/or equity in the company in the form of Restricted Stock Units (RSUs).

$130,000 - $275,000 USD
