Engineering Professional, Electrical Engineering is an entry to mid-level position in Wight & Company’s Electrical Engineering group. We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented electrical engineering professionals with 1-5 years of experience to contribute to our diverse portfolio of projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in engineering principles, a passion for technical design, and a keen interest in integrated design and delivery processes. The role offers the opportunity to work alongside experienced engineers, gaining hands-on experience in all phases of project development.
Technical Responsibilities:
- Perform electrical engineering analysis, design, and calculations under the direct supervision of a senior engineer.
- Analysis and design of lighting, power, riser diagrams, generators, UPS’s, photovoltaics, electrical circuiting, voice/data, security, AV and fire alarm systems for building and site applications.
- Participation in submittal of documentation for permitting/regulatory review with multiple local agencies and jurisdictions.
- Utilization of Autodesk Revit MEP building information modeling (BIM) software.
Core Responsibilities:
- Assist in the preparation of design documentation including BIM models, drawings, and specifications under the guidance of senior engineers.
- Conduct research on materials, products, building codes, systems, and sustainable design practices to inform project decisions.
- Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams, including architecture, sustainability, construction, and other consultants, to support the integrated delivery of projects.
- Perform onsite surveys of existing building conditions and documenting field measurements and observations.
- Perform construction phase activities including submittal review and construction site observations.
- Participate in cross-discipline career development. Engage in continuous learning opportunities, attend industry events, and participate in internal training sessions to enhance skills and knowledge.
- Adapts to various roles within a project and performs at a high level. Proactively accepts tasks beyond the primary scope and adjusts to changing priorities to ensure project success, team collaboration, and firm excellence.
Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor of Science (BS) degree from ABET accredited electrical engineering program. Master of Science (MS) degree from ABET accredited electrical engineering program a plus.
- Experience: 1-5 years of full-time electrical engineering experience in an engineering firm, with exposure to analysis, design, and documentation for building projects. Internship in an engineering firm a plus.
- Knowledge: NEC, NFPA70, and NFPA72 Building Codes and Standards a plus.
- Licensing and Certification: Successful completion of Fundamentals of Engineering (F.E.) exam and EIT Certification a plus. Professional Engineer (P.E.) license a plus.
- Skills: critical thinking, analytical problem-solving skills, technical expertise, attention to detail, adaptability, effective communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Passion: A genuine interest in integrated design and delivery, with a commitment to professional growth and development.
Salary Range: $70,000 - $95,000. Individual pay will be based on several factors including experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant.
