A role in Zip’s Data & AI Squad will see you partner with key stakeholders to supply fast, reliable and future-proof data, powering data-driven decision making on our biggest and most interesting business challenges.

As Senior Manager, Data Science, you’ll lead the strategy, development and operationalisation of cutting-edge AI and ML models that fuel innovation and impact across Zip whilst managing a squad of awesome Data Scientists. You’ll drive experimentation as a core practice, champion ethical AI governance, and collaborate closely with Engineering and Product to deliver measurable results that change the game for our customers.

What you’ll own

  • Lead, mentor and develop a team of Data Scientists to deliver innovative, high-impact AI and ML solutions
  • Own the end-to-end design, deployment and optimisation of AI and ML models that drive business value
  • Champion a culture of experimentation across key business areas, driving faster insights and innovation
  • Embed robust AI governance frameworks that ensure all models are explainable, fair and auditable
  • Partner with Product and Engineering to accelerate model lifecycle management and performance
  • Apply and integrate Generative AI tools to enhance productivity and decision-making within the team and broader business

What you'll bring to the team

  • Extensive experience in data science, machine learning and AI model development, ideally in fintech or e-commerce
  • A collaborative, people-first leadership style that builds trust and empowers teams to experiment and grow
  • Proven success leading AI/ML initiatives that deliver measurable commercial and customer outcomes
  • Deep technical expertise across the model lifecycle, from ideation and experimentation through to deployment and monitoring
  • Experience establishing and enforcing AI governance and MLOps best practices
  • Strong collaboration skills, partnering effectively with cross-functional teams to accelerate delivery
  • Hands-on experience with Generative AI tools to uplift productivity and operational efficiency
  • A mindset that embraces AI and new tools to adapt, learn and grow.
