The User Experience Research group at 2K employs an array of methodologies to give developers the feedback and tools to make better games. We are a team of passionate, diverse gamers who know, analyze, and play not just our games, but all games to identify trends and to go beyond the numbers to provide insight into our research.
What We Need
We are looking for a mixed-methods User Experience Researcher to conduct player-centric research in our Novato, CA facility. Primary responsibilities include designing and implementing playtests and other UX research efforts, analyzing qualitative and quantitative data, authoring summaries and reports, and impacting game development through actionable insights and data driven recommendations.

What You Will Do
- Conduct video game playtests in a lab setting.
- Support the management of the research lab’s technical set up during research studies, troubleshooting when necessary.
- Create and implement research plans, develop briefs, study designs, and other tactical components critical to UX games research.
- Analyze and summarize quantitative player survey and/or qualitative feedback from playtest data.
- Collaborate with other members of the Research & Insights and Data Science teams to gain a complete understanding of player behavior.
- Author and present compelling research reports for a variety of partner audiences.
- Build relationships with development studios and publishing partners.
- Become deeply familiar with mechanics and features of in-development game titles.
Who We Believe Would Be an Excellent Fit
- A history of conducting User Experience (UX) and Usability Research.
- An understanding of mixed research methods and frameworks.
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience using Microsoft Excel/Powerpoint/Word or Google Sheets/Slides/Docs.
- Ability to summarize, analyze, and communicate large amounts of quantitative and qualitative data, to derive insights and recommendations.
- Ability to work on multiple projects and/or objectives simultaneously.
- Passion for video games and gaming.
Bonus Points
- BA/BS or equivalent experience in Cognitive Science, Experimental/Cognitive Psychology, or related field.
- Experience with survey software (e.g. Qualtrics, Alchemer) and data analysis tools.
- Skilled at applying statistical methods to analyze complex datasets and extract actionable insights.
- 2+ years of UX or other social science research experience.
- Proficiency with PC hardware and current-generation game consoles.
- Travel, both domestic and international, may be required.

The pay range for this position in California at the start of employment is expected to be between $85,700 and $126,860 per Year. However, base pay offered is based on market location, and may vary further depending on individualized factors for job candidates, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to those same considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a bonus and/or equity awards and eligibility to participate in our 401(K) plan and Employee Stock Purchase Program. Regular, full-time employees are also eligible for a range of benefits at the Company, including: medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance coverage; 14 paid holidays per calendar year; paid vacation time per calendar year (ranging from 15 to 25 days) or eligibility to participate in the Company’s discretionary time off program; up to 10 paid sick days per calendar year; paid parental and compassionate leave; wellbeing programs for mental health and other wellness support; family planning support through Maven; commuter benefits; and reimbursements for fitness-related expenses.
