About the Role

As the Engineering Manager (Team Lead) in the Engineering Integrity team, you'll focus on elevating the developer experience for engineers working on our Payment Terminals Firmware. You’ll lead a team of experienced developers dedicated to building and maintaining the internal tooling that allows product teams to validate and release their changes confidently—without relying on centralized QA.

This is a software engineering leadership role. Your team’s focus is understanding how IPP products technically work—from hardware and firmware to software—and how developers test and release code. You’ll ensure the right tools and infrastructure are in place to support fast, reliable development. Your role is to facilitate progress, shape priorities, and closely interface with the rest of IPP—so your team builds what others really need to ship high-quality features, independently and with confidence.

What You'll Do

  • Lead the development of internal tooling and frameworks used by firmware teams to validate software on Android-based payment terminals and mobile devices.
  • Work closely with product developers across IPP to understand how they build, test, and release, and identify pain points in their workflows.
  • Drive the creation of tools that improve developer autonomy and velocity, such as coverage analysis, debugging utilities, emulator reliability tooling, and log intelligence.
  • Ensure critical tooling—like emulators and test environments—are reliable, scalable, and treated with the same care as production software.
  • Coordinate changes across infrastructure (e.g., GitLab CI, Gradle) and physical lab setups.
  • Help the team set priorities and technical direction, while facilitating alignment with IPP’s delivery goals.

Who You Are

  • 5+ years of experience in Kotlin/Java, ideally with Android or system-level software.
  • Proven experience leading engineering teams, ideally focused on developer tooling, platform, or DevEx.
  • Strong understanding of how modern development teams work—from commit to release—and a drive to remove friction from that process.
  • You don’t come from a QA/test automation background. You’re a builder with a product mindset who prefers enabling others through scalable engineering.
  • You understand CI/CD pipelines and care about the underlying systems that support fast and safe releases.
  • You’re curious about using GenAI to improve internal tooling (e.g., log analysis, coverage reporting).
  • Strong communicator and facilitator—able to connect teams, clarify priorities, and drive alignment without heavy process.
  • Pragmatic, outcome-focused, and aligned with the Adyen Formula.
