A Snapshot
As the Design Manager – Controls & Automation, reporting to the Director, Technical – Controls & Automation, you will work closely with AirTrunk’s Design, Customer Solutions, and Development teams, as well as our trusted network of consultants and vendors, making your mark in several ways as follows:
- Ownership of reference design specifications and Global Minimum Standards to drive cross-regional standardisation, including but not limited to DCS (BAS/BMS), CMS, EPMS, Customer Telemetry and other supporting DC systems.
- Design Support throughout project lifecycle with regional Design Managers, acting as AirTrunk’s internal SME for technical responses to customer RFPs or project RFIs, design decisions with master planning, technical review and sign-off on all design phases.
- Develop and maintain relationships with interfacing internal sub-teams including DC Ops FM, DCS Support, ICT, Dev and Cx, to inform, consult on, and take feedback on issues and lessons learnt to capture within design evolution.
Your Day to Day
- Maintain the Technical Requirements (TR) Update Register with all outstanding known improvements to be captured in future formal TR documentation updates.
- Draft and present changes to relevant TR documents, Master/Global DCS Points Lists, review and update potential implications of OSE with the Product Development Team and submit updated TRs into Document Management Systems for formal review and approval.
- Conduct gap analysis of in-flight projects against recently formalized updated TRs to assess feasibility to capture uplifts in-flight. Notify and liaise with Controls & Automation Technical Program Manager on potential uplift projects on existing production assets portfolio.
- Liaise with DC Ops/FM Teams on operational issues that have resulted from design decisions, capturing opportunities to uplift TRs or other future design aspects.
- On both greenfield and brownfield sites, prepare and review design documentation across all phases (BOD, CD, SD, DD, IFC) to drive consistency in regional project delivery.
- Liaise with Customer Solutions personnel on all matters Controls & Automation, on both our standard Colo product and customer-specific fit-out provisions, including tailored FTS (Function-to-Suit) designs, providing formal responses to all RFP queries on compliance, deviations and exceptions.
- Liaise with Design Teams and our trusted consultants to ensure that all details and scope has been adequately captured, including compatibility of nominated OSE (Owner Supplied Equipment) per-project from a Controls & Automation perspective, and respond to RFIs.
- Consult with Development Services and Commissioning Teams on changes during inflight delivery, such as issues relating to procurement and alternative equipment, unexpected challenges during Cx, to conflicting interfaces between building services trades.
- Assist in APJ vendor pre-qualification for Controls & Automation trades, including assessing company capabilities for design, quality control, delivery and DLP maintenance, as well as reviewing tender submissions for completeness and cost feasibility.
- Be available as a Controls & Automation Design SME for Service Delivery Managers, acting as the technical liaison for relevant external customer driven projects such as Telemetry integration.
Requirements
- You have successfully designed large scale DCS/BMS for mission-critical environments for 5 years or more
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical or relevant Engineering discipline
- You are familiar with the Tridium Niagara Framework and communications protocols for field and supervisory applications
- You have experience with DDC/PLC programming and knowledge of best practices when it comes to local and distributed control algorithms
- Solid understanding of mission critical Data Centre infrastructure such as redundant electrical systems and chilled water plant control strategies
- Familiarity with relevant codes and standards such as ASHRAE, BCA, AS.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong ability to multitask and prioritize work effectively
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Willingness to travel and work on-site as required
