SALES DIRECTOR, LONDON
APPARATUS is a New York-based designer and manufacturer of a distinctive catalog of high-end, high-touch lighting, furniture and objects. We produce both in-house and with the support of high-quality external partners; our catalog is sold globally.
This role manages and cultivates a book of business while leading a sales team to measurable goals and overseeing gallery operations. The Sales Director operates as a knowledgeable and engaging brand ambassador for APPARATUS, driving sales generation and client engagement while ensuring delivery of the best possible client experience. This is an in-person role based in our London Gallery.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Sales Leadership and Team Management
- Provides senior-level leadership and directly manages a client-focused sales team.
- Ensures successful team performance to sales targets and established KPIs.
- Gives team members thoughtful and helpful coaching/feedback that results in action and measurable improvement.
- Drives operational effectiveness of entire team to ensure accurate and timely information sharing internally and externally.
- Develops deep understanding and utilization of internal technology tools to monitor multiple lines of business, track revenue and coach team to consistently effective results.
Business Development and Client Engagement
- Accountable for all aspects of sales generation, client engagement, and revenue growth within territory.
- Represents APPARATUS at industry events, openings, and networking opportunities throughout the year, acting as a clear representative of the brand and engaging with the design community.
- Ensures consistent deployment by the sales team of APPARATUS-approved client engagement activities to grow business including follow-ups, thank you notes, re-engagement correspondence, micro-events, and studio visits.
- Effectively monitors and communicates updated order timelines, possible delays and deliveries to relevant team members and clients.
Gallery Operations and Brand Standards
- Manages aesthetic and operational oversight of the London gallery and escalates any maintenance issues as needed.
- Partners with headquarters team to lead client experience standards, maintain the upkeep of visual standards, and continually refine client engagement within the gallery.
- Partners with Brand team to develop and implement both large- and small-scale events in the gallery, with a focus on continued community building.
- Ensures implementation and upkeep of headquarters policies and procedures.
Product Knowledge and Strategic Communication
- Develops and maintains the highest level of aesthetic and technical knowledge about the APPARATUS collections, customization options and specifications.
- Acts as a trusted liaison and conduit of information with headquarters leadership.
- Applies brand language and ethos to lead a team focused on client experience and positive engagement.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, with minimum 6-8 years sales experience in the interior design industry and/or with luxury products.
- Prior experience managing a team in a similar leadership role.
- Experience working with a variety of clients and stakeholders with a high value placed on elevated service.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively; ability to delegate and drive for results.
- Proven ability in a high-paced environment that values consistency, efficiency and excellence.
SKILLS
- Able to motivate and inspire a team and drive measurable results.
- Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge and interest in interior design, architecture and textiles.
- Strong aesthetic skills with a keen eye for detail.

WORK SCHEDULE
- Full-time gallery hours
- Longer hours and weekend availability as needed
