We are seeking a collaborative and detail-oriented Platform/DevOps Engineer to join our growing Edge team. In this role, you will focus on the deployment, automation, and operation of our hybrid Azure Local and Kubernetes-based deployments on bare-metal infrastructure. You will support our Galleon mobile data centers and AEP integration, ensuring the reliability and performance of our distributed computing platform across diverse edge locations.
Location. This role is office-based at our Bellevue, Washington office.
What You'll Do (Key Responsibilities)
Edge Platform Operations
- Deployment & Maintenance: Deploy and manage Azure Local environments on bare-metal servers across edge data centers.
- Cluster Management: Configure and manage Kubernetes clusters across on-prem (Galleon) and cloud (Azure) environments.
- Health & Monitoring: Administer and monitor the health, performance, and capacity of Kubernetes clusters and underlying infrastructure.
- Networking & Storage: Implement and maintain Kubernetes networking solutions (CNI plugins) and storage solutions (CSI drivers, PV/PVC).
Infrastructure Automation
- IaC Implementation: Utilize Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools like Terraform, Ansible, and Helm to ensure repeatable and reliable deployments.
- Automation Scripting: Develop and maintain automation scripts (Python, Bash) for scalable infrastructure provisioning.
- CI/CD Integration: Support cluster operations and deployment pipelines to streamline software delivery to the edge.
Security & Reliability
- Security Enforcement: Apply Kubernetes security best practices, including RBAC, Network Policies, and Secrets Management.
- Azure Governance: Use Azure Arc to monitor distributed instances and ensure consistent security policies across the fleet.

- Incident Response: Troubleshoot issues related to bare-metal infrastructure, networking, and containerized services while contributing to on-call rotations.
Required Qualifications
- Professional Experience: 5 years of experience in DevOps, SRE, or Platform Engineering roles.
- Kubernetes: 2+ years of hands-on experience administering production Kubernetes clusters.
- Cloud & Hybrid: At least 1 year of experience with Azure services (Azure Arc, AKS) or equivalent cloud providers.
- Linux: Strong proficiency in Linux administration and system troubleshooting.
- Networking: Solid understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, firewalls, and Load Balancing.
- Automation: Practical experience with Terraform, Ansible, and scripting in Python or Bash.
- Scripting: Proficiency in scripting languages like Python, Bash, or PowerShell for automation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) on Azure Local/Azure Stack HCI.
- Experience with monitoring tools such as Prometheus and Grafana.
- Knowledge of service mesh technologies like Istio or Linkerd.
- Kubernetes certifications such as CKA or CKAD.

For U.S. Based candidates: To ensure fairness and transparency, the starting base salary range for this role for candidates in the U.S. are listed below, varying based on location experience, skills, and qualifications. In addition to base salary, this role will also be offered equity and subsidized benefits (details available upon request).
