About the role:

As the Director of Engineering for FinCrime, you will lead the Fraud, Risk, AML, Security, and compliance engineering teams, shaping the technology vision and execution for Aspire’s FinCrime infrastructure. This is a strategic leadership role in which you will drive the long-term roadmap, technical strategy, and regulatory Compliance in fraud prevention and risk management.

  • Leadership: Co-define the long-term vision and roadmap for risk products that align with business, regulatory, and technological goals. Build and enhance fraud detection, risk mitigation, and security infrastructure, ensuring compliance with financial regulations.
  • Product Delivery:  Lead the end-to-end product development for KYC/KYB, AML, transaction monitoring, fraud prevention, and security systems.
  • Technical expertise: Guide teams on microservices architecture, infrastructure, and secure system design, as well as implement best practices in monitoring, logging, caching, and automation.
  • Engineering management: Technically lead and mentor a high-performing, multi-region engineering team, fostering a culture of innovation and accountability. 
  • Process management: Optimize Agile (Scrum) processes, ensuring efficient execution and high-quality deliverables.
  • Domain Expertise: Develop a strong understanding of financial regulations and compliance requirements in relevant markets while working closely with operations, legal, Compliance, other engineering, and product teams to deliver risk management solutions.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 12-15 years of experience in software architecture and development with a minimum of 5 years in the Fintech Industry 
  • Expertise in Risk, Fraud, IT Security, AML, & Compliance from an engineering perspective 
  • Strong technical experience in microservices, multi-stack/platform exposure, database, cloud, frontend understanding, hands-on with tools for monitoring, caching, logging, etc. 
  • Excellent problem-solving, change management, and stakeholder communication skills, as well as the ability to solve ambiguity. 
  • Experience implementing and optimizing Agile, Scrum, or Kanban development processes.
  • Proven leadership ability to mentor, motivate, and guide technical teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of DevOps, Cloud technologies, performance, and data management concepts. 
  • Experience managing third-party vendors, including contract negotiations
  • Experience in collaborating and managing teams across multiple regions. 
  • Familiarity with AI-driven fraud detection and risk management solutions
