JOB SUMMARY
Atwell is seeking an Engineer to support water and gas utility infrastructure projects throughout Northeastern Ohio. This role is ideal for an early to mid-career engineer with a utility mindset who enjoys overseeing projects, working with municipalities, and driving field work forward. The work will focus on capital replacement and upgrade efforts, primarily water and gas line replacements in coordination with local municipalities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Oversee and support utility infrastructure projects involving water and gas line replacements, upgrades, and new development support
- Coordinate and manage the permitting process and municipal procedures
- Serve as a liaison between clients, municipalities, and internal teams to ensure project continuity
- Conduct site visits within the region (local travel only) to monitor project progress
- Collaborate with design teams and review engineering packages (AutoCAD familiarity preferred)
- Track project timelines, budgets, and client expectations
- Support basic capital improvement projects related to new housing and commercial developments
EDUCATION
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field
EXPERIENCE
- 2–6 years of experience in water, gas, or electric utility projects
- Familiarity with municipal permitting processes and basic project management principles
- AutoCAD experience preferred (not a heavy design role)
- Strong communication skills, especially in client and municipal coordination
- Must be based in or willing to relocate to the Boardman, OH area (local/regional travel required)
