Trust and Safety Regulations Specialist

As a Specialist in the Trust & Safety Regulations team, you will join a team of regulations and compliance subject matter experts where you will be responsible for identifying, following, and making recommendations resulting from existing, new, or upcoming regulatory or compliance requirements related to international eCommerce, globally. Recent examples include the European Union’s Digital Services Act, and the UK’s Online Safety Act.

Our organization processes predominantly recurring subscriptions in an industry categorized as high risk. This means that you will need to have and develop specific knowledge and understanding of the nuances between this industry and other mainstream industries. You will be operating within the Trust & Safety regulations team, working closely with our Legal, Strategic Planning, Engineering, and Product teams to plan, track, and evaluate initiatives and business adjustments relating to regulatory compliance and operating standards changes.

What you'll be doing: 

  • Conduct regular analysis of regulatory processes and procedures.
  • Analyze and understand applicable legislation and translate the legislation to our business from a requirement gathering and determination perspective.
  • Assist with meeting arrangements and sync ups between all the individuals who will be contributing to a project. This individual will need to be aware of the points of contact for each department/party, they will need to establish contact lists of collaborators and update information periodically.
  • Assist with providing weekly communications and emails, informing team members of important notices, upcoming regulations and project updates.
  • Assist with the review and evaluation of new projects, with testing and launching new projects and validating the success of new projects.
  • Present progress reports and results of tasks to lead and manager and other interested parties.
  • Maintaining positive flow of communication between internal departments such as business units, the legal and data privacy teams, the payment and T&S QA teams.
  • Ensure monitoring and assessment of any strategy implementation for compliance, presenting results on a periodic basis to your management team.
  • Study and understand the regulatory landscape for both high risk and recurring billing-based business models, globally but primarily in the principal regions where the company does business: North America, Europe (EEA), and other primarily English-speaking countries.
  • Work with the legal team to track and understand ongoing litigation relating to non-Aylo eCommerce payments and how it might impact Aylo’s business units. Propose mitigation strategies and define the requirements for implementation.
  • Identify and propose, if appropriate, partnership or membership with relevant agencies or organizations.

 What you'll need to be successful:

Must haves:

  • 3+ years of experience in a similar regulatory and compliance role
  • Experience working within an eCommerce organization that serves a global market
  • Experience reading and interpreting contractual agreements, legal texts, online business laws and/or regulations.
  • Experience auditing regulatory compliance of websites, focusing on legal aspects, with a strong understanding of eCommerce regulations and their practical application to online platforms and the business operations.
  • Excellent time management and attention to detail
  • Ability to understand and evaluate opportunity cost, return on investment and risk associated with various projects to make compliance recommendations
  • Ability to effectively leverage data to present insights and make decisions
  • High level of comfort dealing with and interacting with Engineering, IT, and software development teams
  • Strong communication and organizational skills

Nice to haves:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or eCommerce is a plus
  • Experience in Project Management in a technical environment
