About Campus Cafe:

Our student information system is an integrated SIS that manages the entire student life cycle including Admissions, Student Services, Business Office, Financial Aid, Alumni Development and Career Tracking functions.
Our SIS is a single database student information system that allows clients to manage marketing, recruitment, applications, course registration, billing, transcripts, financial aid, career tracking, alumni development, fundraising, student attendance and class rosters. It allows real-time access to data that is more accurate and available when our users it.
Our SaaS model means clients don’t need to build and maintain an expensive and complex IT infrastructure. Our APIs and custom integrations will keep all their data in sync and accessible in real-time. Since the database is fully integrated, everything is updated in real-time and there’s no waiting for information.

Position Description:

We’re searching for a talented Lead API Developer with strong Java expertise to join our tight-knit engineering team. Your work will be highly valued as you contribute to our growth and success by building reliable and efficient software solutions.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain robust and scalable APIs using Java and related technologies
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions
  • Ensure API performance, reliability, and security by conducting thorough testing and quality assurance
  • Optimize API performance and efficiency to meet evolving business needs
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest API technologies and industry trends
  • Development best-practices: Technically lead and mentor a team of developers, providing guidance on best practices, coding standards, and design patterns
  • Quality strategist: Provide guidance on quality strategy and test cases development to SDET members and ensure that quality standards adopted are as per customer acceptance
  • Security: Apply security best practices to protect APIs from vulnerabilities and ensure compliance with data protection regulations
  • Code Reviews: Conduct code reviews to ensure that API code is of high quality, adheres to best practices, and meets the project's coding standards
  • API Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for APIs, including usage guidelines, technical details, and examples

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a Senior Developer or equivalent role
  • 10+ years of experience building APIs, especially REST calls
  • 4+ years building applications in Java
  • 2+ years of experience using a web framework (Thymeleaf, Spring, Hibernate)
  • 2+ years of experience using a SQL database (MySQL, MSSQL, etc.)
  • Efficient, practical programmer with a record of designing and producing dependable code
  • Care about making sure code is maintainable and well-tested
  • Proficiency in version control systems (e.g., Git)
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and debugging skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
  • Conversational English required
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field

Bonus Points:

  • Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure)
  • Experience with API testing and documentation tools

Working hours and location:

  • To ensure coverage with North American teams, working hours will be between 2 PM to 11 PM Indian Standard Time
  • Working from our Chennai office (in Guindy) for a minimum of 3 days a week
