Finance
Our mission at Base is to fix the power grid and enable affordable and reliable electricity for all. To do that, we are building America’s Next-Generation Power Company; the first engineering-led, technology-focused, R&D-driven electricity company. We are a team of tenacious engineers, operators, and creatives who have solved hard problems and are here to do it again.
The Finance role at Base will be critical in the development of our finance operations. Finance owns fundraising (equity, debt, and tax capital related to clean energy incentives), investor relations, and financial planning & analysis. The finance team at Base is very lean, and this role would be tasked with developing and owning many of the core models and analytical tools that drive strategic decisions at the company. Base’s Finance needs are growing rapidly given the business model is both capital intensive and driven by project unit economics, making this a unique opportunity for intellectually stimulating work and creative financial structures.
Responsibilities:
- Lead quarterly financial planning processes by owning a detailed 3-statement forecast model.
- Develop and maintain systems and processes to analyze financial and operational performance across the company, including project-level unit economics and thoughtful cohort analyses.
- Partner with other business functions to develop budgets and analyze the financial impact of key decisions or new opportunities.
- Support fundraising efforts with scenario modeling that assess the impact of new capital structures, including as Base scales and deepens its reliance on project finance and asset-backed lending / securitization.
- Maintain Base’s “brand” in capital markets through the development of thoughtful materials that are meant to be external-facing with investors.
- Support ongoing reporting on financial and operational performance to Base’s leadership team, Base’s board of directors, and Base’s broader investor base.
- Maintain a “no job too small” mentality, being able to perform other procedures within the general scope of this role.
Required Skills / Qualifications:
- 2-5 years of experience in a finance role at an operating company, investment banking, and/or investing role, or similar.
- Prefer experience in manufacturing, energy, power, renewables, or infrastructure.
- Bonus if you have experience in project finance and/or asset-backed lending/securitization.
- Excel modeling and effective verbal/written communication skills required.
- Experience or ability to engage with engineering-led systems (e.g., SQL databases) to extract financial and operational performance.
- Experience or desire to operate in a high-growth environment.
If you’re passionate about tackling one of the most critical challenges of our time, now is the time to join us. Together, we can usher in a new era of American energy abundance by developing the hardware, software, and deployment operations that make it possible.
