Training Engineer

We’re looking for a technically curious Training Engineer to become a subject matter expert on Black Duck Products. In this role you will work closely with a Training Content Developer providing them with the knowledge they need to create engaging learning experiences. This role is critical in ensuring our customers gain deep, practical understanding of our tools, accelerating secure software development across their organizations.
Responsibilities
- Partner with the Training Content Developer to translate complex technical concepts into clear, engaging training materials, including videos, labs, and documentation.
- Stay up to date with our latest product features so you can assist the Training Content Developer with creating micro-learning for new features.
- Act as the internal expert on developer workflows and use cases, providing insights to improve training relevance and effectiveness.
- Review and validate training content for technical accuracy and completeness.
- Maintain demo environments and troubleshoot issues to ensure smooth content creation and delivery.
- Creating short code examples with defects for learning content.
- You may occasionally be called on to assist with delivering workshops or webcasts
- Very occasionally travel may be required to assist with the delivery of in-person training.
Qualifications
- 4+ years of experience working as a developer, support engineer, sales engineer or related field
- Knowledge of two or more: Java, C#, C/C++, JavaScript, Node, AngularJS, PHP, Ruby etc.
- Familiarity with modern development environments, IDEs, and version control systems (e.g., Git, VS Code, IntelliJ).
- Knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes and Virtual Machines preferred.
- Familiarity with open-source software ecosystems
- Ability to adapt to change and learn new skills
- Attention to detail
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Knowledge of SAST, DAST or SCA tools a plus
- Bachelor’s degree in CS or related field (preferred).
