The role
The Technical Product Specialist is a vital role within the Blenheim Chalcot portfolio and Foshpa. You will gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced and progressive environment, where you will support us in building our next generation of GenAI-enabled tech businesses.
Key Responsibilities:
Backlog Management:
- Own, prioritize, and refine the data ingestion backlog, ensuring that user stories, tasks, and technical requirements are consistently groomed and ready for development.
- Translate business and technical requirements into detailed user stories, with clearly defined acceptance criteria and relevant technical specifications (e.g., understanding of endpoints, data fields, authentication flows).
Technical Requirements & Documentation:
- Review and interpret external API documentation to determine how new data sources will integrate into our data model.
- Work closely with data leads and engineers to map new and updated fields into existing schemas
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Partner with engineering teams during sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospective sessions to ensure alignment on priorities, clarify requirements, and unblock issues.
- Interface with stakeholders (including product management, data architecture, and analytics teams) to understand and refine requirements, communicate progress, and gather feedback.
Quality & Performance Focus:
- Define and uphold acceptance criteria that emphasize data accuracy, timeliness, and reliability, leveraging data validation rules and automated checks where possible.
- Monitor integration performance and data quality post-release, identifying and addressing issues or enhancements as needed.
Continuous Improvement:
- Suggest improvements to ingestion processes, frameworks, and tooling based on hands-on experience with API integrations and data workflow complexities.
- Identify opportunities to streamline the backlog management process, ensuring efficient communication and delivery.
About you
The ideal candidate will have a track-record in delivering results in a fast-moving business and hence be comfortable with change and uncertainty. Excellent stakeholder management experience is essential to being successful in this role.
Qualifications & Skills:
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field preferred.
- 2+ years of experience as a Technical Product Owner, Technical Business Analyst, or a related role in a data-driven environment.
Technical Aptitude:
- Desired ability to understand and work with APIs, including interpreting documentation, query parameters, data formats, and authentication methods (OAuth, API keys).
- Familiarity with API frameworks and basic ETL/ELT concepts, as well as data modeling best practices.
Tools & Technologies:
- Experience with agile development tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence) to manage and refine backlogs, user stories, and sprints.
- Exposure to data integration technologies, cloud data warehousing solutions (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure), and data orchestration tools a plus.
Soft Skills:
- Excellent written and verbal English & communication skills, able to clarify complex requirements into actionable stories for engineers.
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities, capable of juggling multiple priorities and maintaining a well-groomed backlog.
- A collaborative mindset, working effectively with cross-functional teams to achieve shared objectives.
