Senior Director of Business Strategy

The Senior Director of Business Strategy will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing the company’s strategic direction. This leader will oversee a cross-functional team of data analysts and sales development professionals, transforming insights into actionable strategies that drive client growth, operational excellence, and market leadership. The position plays a key role by partnering with senior leaders to maximize profits through identifying opportunities, establishing and executing strategic plans, achieving forecasts, and ensuring business excellence. This position is responsible for helping to achieve financial goals and objectives and increase operating performance. This leader will foster high-impact cross-functional collaboration, support strategic new manufacturer partnerships, and ensure that our initiatives align with company goals and market trends.

Your impact:

  • Team Leadership & Development
    • Lead, coach and inspire a high-performing team of data analysts and business development professionals.
    • Support a culture of excellence, collaboration, innovation, accountability, curiosity, and innovation.
    • Inspire ongoing professional development and cross-training to maximize team potential.
    • Guide team in translating data insights into client-facing strategies and go-to-market plans.
    • Provide strategic direction and clarity to ensure successful project execution and goal alignment.
  • Strategic P&L Leadership
    • This role will hold full ownership of multiple P&Ls and be accountable for driving financial performance, organizational effectiveness, and enterprise growth in the following areas:
      • Analytics: Lead a high-performing team of 3 employees while overseeing technology investments that enable scalable, data-driven insights and analytics delivery.
      • Business Development: Direct a team of 2 employees with responsibility for the channel partner program and full ownership of the RTS annual revenue plan, ensuring sustainable top-line growth.
      • RTS Business Strategy: Provide executive-level leadership and accountability for team leads, guide the company’s overall strategic planning process, and execute cornerstone initiatives that shape and inform the organization’s long-term vision and annual strategy.
  • Client & Market Insights
    • Translate proprietary and external data into actionable insights that drive client impact and internal initiatives.
    • Guide the analytics team in developing narratives and visualizations that inspire decision-making.
    • Partner with client services and marketing teams to deliver high-impact strategy presentations, proposals, and reports.
    • Stay ahead of industry trends, competitive intelligence, and evolving customer behaviors in the foodservice space.
  • Revenue Growth & Business Development
  • Support sales efforts by identifying growth opportunities, improving value propositions, and refining target strategies.
  • Assist in key client pitches and strategic partnership development.
  • Monitor business performance metrics and KPIs to inform continuous improvement and investment decisions.
  • Partner with VP of Sales & Marketing to ensure seamless coordination between strategy, marketing, and client success.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Work closely with marketing, sales, product, and executive leadership to ensure integrated planning and execution.
  • Serve as a strategic thought partner on executive initiatives and company planning cycles.
  • Champion internal knowledge-sharing and systems that support scalable innovation.
  • And other support as required and requested

About you:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Economics, Data Science, or a related field (MBA or equivalent preferred)
  • 8+ years of experience in business strategy, consulting, or a related field; foodservice or consumer packaged goods (CPG) industry experience strongly preferred
  • Experience in, and a deep understanding of, the foodservice industry
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office 365 Suite and experienced with a CRM (Salesforce preferred)
  • Proven leadership experience managing cross-functional teams and delivering measurable business impact
  • Deep analytical acumen with a strong understanding of how to apply data to drive strategic decision-making
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders
  • Demonstrated success in navigating fast-paced, high-growth environments with multiple stakeholders
  • Must be passionate about the Buyers Edge Platform mission
  • Strong leadership skills with demonstrated ability to develop and scale high-performing teams
  • Advanced strategic thinking, analytical capabilities, and business acumen
  • Proven ability to identify growth opportunities and drive operational improvements
  • Solid understanding of RTS offerings, the foodservice industry, and the competitive landscape – including manufacturer, operator and distributor dynamics
  • Experience in developing strategies based on both quantitative data and qualitative insights
  • Ability to understand the company’s policies, procedures, systems, and objectives
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex ideas in an accessible and compelling manner, including data storytelling and executive communication in order to influence stakeholders across all levels
  • Familiarity with CRMs (Salesforce preferred), marketing technology, and analytics tools, such as Tableau
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a bias for action and continuous improvement
  • Adept at prioritizing, multitasking, and pivoting in fast-paced environments
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and efficient; able to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced, evolving environment
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to support other departments with projects as needed to exceed client expectations
