What You Will Do

We are seeking a dynamic, collaborative, and passionate leader to join our team as the Director of Food Safety and Quality Assurance – Manufacturing. In this role, you will provide FSQA oversight for our third-party (3P) manufacturing, repack, and warehouse partners. You will ensure regulatory compliance, lead continuous improvement programs, and oversee incident management for these operations. The ideal candidate brings deep experience in FSQA program development, a proven track record of leading high-performing teams, and experience in meat processing. 

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and develop FSQA team members to support continuous growth and alignment with organizational objectives. 
  • Build and maintain strong partnerships while ensuring compliance with USDA requirements, GMP, HACCP, and third-party certification standards across co-manufacturers, repackers, warehouses, and 3PL fulfillment providers. 
  • Implement and manage quality improvement initiatives with internal and external partners to enhance product consistency and consumer satisfaction. 
  • Support the development and implementation of processes, procedures, and systems to meet the organization’s evolving FSQA needs. 
  • Analyze consumer experience and sensory feedback to identify trends and opportunities for improvement. 
  • Partner with co-manufacturers to support new product development and change management by ensuring appropriate FSQA coverage, with a focus on risk prevention. 
  • Ensure timely investigations of food safety incidents and quality issues, including root cause analysis and the development and execution of corrective action plans. 
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to embed food safety and quality standards across the business, partnering regularly with Manufacturing, R&D, Engineering, Procurement, Commercialization, Productivity, Logistics, Finance, and Consumer Experience. 
  • Travel, as needed, to current and prospective 3P co-manufacturing, repack, and storage facilities. 
  • Ensure traceability audits are completed on schedule and that corrective actions are identified and implemented across 3P co-manufacturers and kitting operations. 
  • Track team KPIs and communicate performance insights internally and with external partners to drive continuous improvement. 
  • Lead Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs) with external partners to assess performance, drive accountability, and strengthen collaboration. 

Who You Are

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Microbiology, or a related field, with a minimum of 10 years of FSQA experience. 
  • Prior experience working with USDA-FSIS is required; experience with FDA is preferred. 
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience leading, developing, and managing salaried direct reports. 
  • Experience with GFSI-benchmarked programs and HACCP. 
  • Working knowledge of applicable regulatory and certification requirements (e.g., CFR Food and Drugs; USDA Organic; Non-GMO; Gluten Free; Kosher). 
  • Ability to travel 1–2 times per month to various 3P manufacturing locations. 
  • Prior experience in ready-to-eat food manufacturing is required. 
  • Expertise in root cause analysis and corrective and preventive action (CAPA) planning. 
  • Experience with meat grinding, smokehouse, and thermoforming packaging equipment is preferred. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with an emphasis on Excel. 
  • Proven experience managing product recalls, including coordination with USDA officials, oversight of corrective actions, and ensuring regulatory compliance throughout recall execution. 
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and continuous improvement capabilities, with demonstrated success driving results through influential leadership and lean manufacturing tools. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong relationship management capabilities. 
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills. 
  • Exceptional organizational skills and strong attention to detail.

Type: Full-Time, exempt

Salary Range Opportunity:

  • The salary range for this role is $150,000 - $160,000 + 25% annual bonus

  • Our salary ranges are based on verified market data and our philosophy of paying competitively for our size and industry
  • Individual pay rate decisions are based on several factors, including qualifications for the role, experience level, skillset, and balancing internal equity relative to peers at the company
