Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled Health & Safety Engineer to support the implementation and continuous improvement of our safety programs. This role is key in promoting a proactive safety culture, ensuring compliance with OSHA and ISO 45001 standards, and reducing risks from workplace hazards. Join our fast-growing team and help drive meaningful, measurable safety performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and manage safety programs in compliance with OSHA, ISO 45001, and internal standards
- Serve as the site lead for ISO 45001 and OHSAS 18001 systems
- Conduct and update Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs)
- Identify hazard controls and recommend process and equipment improvements
- Inspect facilities and equipment to ensure compliance and minimize risks
- Review new equipment and facility plans for safety compliance
- Lead incident investigations and ensure corrective actions are implemented
- Prepare and submit required safety reports to internal and external stakeholders
- Monitor environmental conditions (air, noise, temperature, etc.) for compliance
- Support safety committees and employee engagement initiatives
- Deliver safety training to employees and contractors
- Conduct audits and contribute to safety performance improvement
- Liaise with emergency services and health professionals as needed
- Analyze safety data to identify trends and inform preventative actions
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field (preferred)
- Minimum of 5 years of EHS experience, ideally in a manufacturing or industrial setting
- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, ISO 45001, and hazard mitigation principles
- Experience with inspections, training, audits, and root cause analysis
Credentials
- Safety Engineer license or certification (preferred)
- CSP, CIH, or equivalent EHS certifications a plus
- ISO 45001 or OHSAS 18001 internal auditor certification (preferred)
Physical Requirements
- Ability to walk long distances and stand for extended periods across large operational areas
- Ability to climb, bend, and access elevated or confined spaces for inspections
- Comfortable wearing required PPE and working in a variety of environmental conditions (noise, heat, etc.)
