What You'll Do
As the on-site Construction Safety Specialist, you'll partner with the General Contractor, subcontractors, and project leadership to promote a safe, compliant, and productive construction environment.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary safety resource for project leadership, contractors, and trade partners.
- Conduct daily safety inspections, audits, field observations, and hazard assessments.
- Identify hazards and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
- Promote a proactive safety culture through coaching, mentoring, and field engagement.
- Lead and support Pre-Task Planning (PTPs), Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), permit programs, and incident investigations.
- Facilitate site orientations, toolbox talks, and task-specific safety training.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA 29 CFR 1926 Construction Standards and client safety requirements.
- Monitor high-risk work activities, including electrical safety, fall protection, confined space entry, crane operations, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), critical lifts, and hot work.
- Support contractor compliance, safety observations, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintain accurate safety reports, inspections, and project documentation.
Required Qualifications
- Current OSHA 500 certification (Required).
- Minimum of 6 years of full-time construction safety experience.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA 29 CFR 1926 Construction Standards.
- Experience supporting active commercial, industrial, manufacturing, mission-critical, or data center construction projects.
- Excellent hazard recognition, communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and electronic safety management systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- Data center or mission-critical construction experience.
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health & Safety, or a related field.
- Professional certifications such as CHST, ASP, CSP, or CIH.
- Experience using gas monitors, noise meters, and other industrial safety monitoring equipment.
- Experience overseeing high-risk construction activities, including electrical work, confined space entry, crane operations, and critical lifts.
Work Environment
This is an active field position requiring daily presence on a construction site. Responsibilities include standing and walking for extended periods, climbing ladders, working at heights, entering confined spaces, navigating uneven terrain, lifting up to 30 pounds, and working outdoors in varying weather conditions. Reasonable accommodations will be considered in accordance with applicable laws.
Additional Requirements
- Ability to work the assigned 7:00 PM – 5:00 AM shift.
- Flexibility to work overtime as project demands require.
- Reliable transportation.
- Candidates should reside within a reasonable commuting distance unless traveling for the project.
- Travelers are welcome. Project-specific per diem is available for qualified candidates.
