Engineering Manager, New York City
Come join our team as a NYC-based Software Engineering Manager and shape the future of digital experiences at Convene! All prospective candidates must reside in the US and be authorized to work in the US without sponsorship. This is a full-time hybrid position and preference will be given to candidates currently located in the NYC Metro area.
As an Engineering Manager at Convene, you will lead one or multiple agile teams to drive the scaling and development of our web, mobile, and data engineering initiatives across multiple products. You will also play an integral role in scaling out our team, processes, and culture as we grow. Along with your team, you will dive into product needs and technology problems to create powerful and delightful digital experiences for our customers. You will also have many opportunities to influence the product direction.
What You’ll Do:
- Lead by example through hands-on engineering and technical contributions.
- Develop and retain strong engineering talent
- Lead a distributed team of software engineers focused on the user-facing product tooling and cohesive web-based experiences
- Partner with the Digital Product team to develop a software roadmap for future features and improvements
- Develop individual and team strategies to support career and organizational growth
- Ensure your team meets deadlines and launch dates through an effective sprint planning process and daily standups
- Implement and adapt good engineering process to ensure high-quality deliverables
- Cultivate a culture of excellence and psychological safety to build inclusive, productive, healthy teams.
- Collaborate effectively across teams, including outside of Engineering
What We Look For:
- Previous engineering management experience with a track record of successfully building and leading inclusive, highly productive teams.
- Experience working on web-based, user-facing products and features.
- Experience running agile teams; scrum master certification is a plus
- Experience either leading or working alongside Data Engineering team
- Adept at driving decisions and uniting stakeholders when there is ambiguity, disagreements, or conflicting constraints or priorities.
- High technical curiosity and willingness to learn. Diving into the details on the job is expected.
- Technical background and hands on experience with Javascript/Typescript and more specifically React. Experience with Next.js, Node.js, and Express is a plus
- Comfortable working within a fast-paced high growth startup environment

- React/JavaScript experience
- React Native experience
- AWS Experience

Base Salary:
Salary Min: $170,000 Salary Max: $190,000
This role is also eligible for Convene's annual incentive performance bonus plan.
This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience and other relevant factors.
