The Job
The Director of Information Technology will help Core Scientific move forward with technological advances, software, and methods of processing and managing information. This role also includes continuously evaluating new software and application delivery options (On-premises, public cloud, private cloud, hybrid, mobile apps, etc.) to ensure the company’s internal software inventory is well-matched to the current and future business model.
Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and grow a small but efficient team of IT professionals, ensuring optimal performance, productivity, and collaboration.
- Oversee and ensure user-facing systems and internal infrastructure reliability and security, including cloud environments, servers, networks, and enterprise applications.
- Drive the implementation of automation and orchestration strategies to streamline IT operations and maximize throughput while maintaining a lean team. You will be responsible for identifying repetitive processes and introducing scalable solutions.
- Define and execute the technology roadmap, aligning IT goals with business objectives. Manage IT projects from inception to delivery, ensuring milestones and deadlines are met.
- Maintain company data and systems' integrity, confidentiality, and security, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and best practices.
- Manage the day-to-day support of internal systems and user-facing applications, swiftly addressing technical issues and ensuring minimal disruption.
- Oversee relationships with third-party vendors, ensuring cost-effective solutions while maintaining the highest level of service and support. Manage IT budgets and ensure cost optimization.
- Foster open, respectful, and professional communication directly within the team, with co-workers/ teammates, and leaders across the organization.

Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field is required.
- 8 years of experience in IT, with at least 3+ years in a leadership or director-level position, managing both user-facing and internal IT systems.
- Strong hands-on experience with IT automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef, Terraform) and orchestration platforms to streamline processes, reduce manual intervention, and optimize system performance.
- In-depth knowledge of cloud computing (AWS, Azure, GCP), server management, networking, enterprise applications, and security protocols. Experience with system monitoring and incident management tools is a plus.
- Proven ability to lead, inspire, and develop a small, high-performing IT team. Experience managing budgets, vendor relationships, and IT projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong troubleshooting skills, a creative and innovative approach to overcoming challenges, and a proven ability to optimize and improve IT operations, reduce downtime, and enhance system performance.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and present technical concepts clearly and concisely to non-technical stakeholders.
- Certifications such as ITIL, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, or similar are highly desirable.

Position Type/ Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time, onsite position. General hours and days of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. some nights and weekends may be required.
