What You'll Do
 
This role is responsible to create and execute strategy in the specific categories. This Merchant will develop solutions to drive focus around development categories, supporting growth across the board, with an emphasis on Adorama branded sales channels. The Merchant will work cross-functionally with other internal departments (e.g. marketing, web development, Retail team) to help drive sales and profit for the company. The Merchant must be open-minded and have the skillset to identify gaps and to ensure that solutions are in place to proactively drive execution.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop relationships, negotiate and interact with vendors
  • Assortment rationalization – Ensure that categories are represented properly with industry leading brands and products in the assortment
  • Lead the merchandising strategy categories with a primary focus on building the Adorama branded channels
  • Responsible for monthly forecasting and open to buy management
  • Responsible for full product assortment lifecycle optimization
  • Monitor web experience to enable shoppers to discover, learn, and purchase products in categories
  • Support content development to be the distinctive and authoritative destination for category knowledge serving both customers and associates
  • Creatively plan profitable promotional planning to set the categories on a course for sustainable growth
  • Collaborate closely with internal sales teams effectively to enable existing account growth and accelerate new business
  • Lead and coordinate efforts to develop new or revised processes/procedures as needed
  • Identify strategic growth opportunities and develops formal plans for implementation
  • Putting together and presenting high-quality documents and presentations to senior leadership both inside and outside the company
  • Maintain a strong knowledge of sales metrics and monitoring marketing, brand and sales effectiveness
  • Partner with internal teams to ensure effective execution of business plan in a manner that continually enhances customer experience.
  • Conducts regular business analysis to ensure the health of the business and to provide visibility to senior leadership
  • Responsibilities may evolve over time; employees may be asked to take on additional duties as needed to support business priorities.

What Will Help You Thrive:

  • Relevant Merchandising experience
  • Knowledge of core merchandising systems and processes
  • Strong online experience and understanding of web performance KPI’s (i.e. Google analytics, Omniture etc…)
  • Experience in the Open to Buy process
  • Ability to forecast and budget the business
  • Leadership experience
  • Product sourcing experience is a plus
  • Strong cross functional experience with internal departments (i.e. Marketing, Operations etc.)
  • Negotiation and buying skills with proven ability to work with a wide variety of vendors both large and small
  • Experience with integrated business-to-business sales, solutions and technology
  • Strong collaboration skills to build long-term strategic partnerships with key vendors
  • Microsoft Office Suite proficiency

This role requires three on-site days weekly to ensure in-person collaboration, improved communication, effective teamwork, and real-time problem solving to enhance team synergy and productivity. A standard 40-hour work week is expected.

Pay range for this role:

$85,000 - $115,000 USD
