
Oracle DBA
Job Description
CSCI is seeking a highly skilled Oracle Database Administrator to support the design, creation, maintenance, and auditing of database schemas and related objects within a client/server environment. The ideal candidate will work closely with Infrastructure DBAs and system users to manage schema-related requirements and ensure data integrity, performance, and security across the organization’s databases.
Responsibilities
- Design, create, implement, and maintain database schemas and schema objects
- Collaborate with Infrastructure DBAs on long-term schema administration strategies
- Conduct quality control and schema audits to ensure proper use and data accuracy
- Provide expert advice to users regarding access to database schemas
- Define and enforce standards for schema object naming, validation checks, organization, and security
- Utilize front-end programming languages and database technologies such as SQL for schema development and support
- Perform database programming and assist in systems design and integration
- Maintain schema documentation and provide statistical reports related to schema performance and usage
Minimum Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years progressive experience using database query languages including Oracle, PL/SQL, SQL Server, and MS Access
- Active DoD Top Secret security clearance
- At least 3 years of hands-on experience in database schema management
- Proven experience in administering, operating, maintaining, and securing large-scale computer databases in at least two major projects within large organizations
- Familiarity with multiple operating systems and additional programming languages beyond SQL
- Strong understanding of data governance, access control, schema design best practices, and performance optimization
Preferred Skills
- Experience working in secure environments with sensitive data
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for advising users and collaborating with IT teams
- Knowledge of compliance standards related to data storage and access (e.g., HIPAA, FISMA, or similar)
- Ability to work in a team environment, as well as independently
- Strong customer and vendor relationship skills
- Demonstrated ability to comply with data standards and policies
- Motivation to learn new technologies and methodologies that demonstrate value
- Past experience working with a federal agency
- Department of Defense experience is a plus!
