The role

In this role, the Generative AI Alliances Lead would be responsible for identifying, developing, executing and managing partnerships that apply Google DeepMind’s technologies to address real-world challenges aligned to the UN Sustainable Development Goals, specifically how they may be helped with the use of Generative AI.

Key responsibilities

Provide Leadership to the Partnerships Team 

  • Oversee the exploration and establishment of new partnerships in priority areas.
  • Corral and lead relevant resources and talent related to building and managing an ecosystem of potential contacts and partners.
  • Carry out desk based research and speak with relevant contacts regularly to identify potential opportunities for new partnerships, AI applications or events.

Partnerships Operations support 

  • Manage inbound interest from external organisations and help prioritise conversations and opportunities with potential partners.
  • Support the team with external and partner engagement preparation - preparing briefs and managing follow-up. 
  • Support the GDI partnership leads to develop the right GTM (Go To Market) assets and plans for our partnership work, working closely with other Google DeepMind teams, such as Public Affairs and Marketing and Communications.  
  • Work with other Google DeepMind teams, such as Science, Legal, and Business & Corporate Development, to progress discussions and ideas into concrete partnership proposals and plans.

Partnership Analysis

  • Analyse trends, identify lessons learned, and proactively propose recommendations for improvements.

About you

In order to set you up for success as a Generative AI Alliance Lead at Google DeepMind, we look for the following skills and experience:

  • Partnership Expertise: You have a proven track record of identifying, developing, and managing successful partnerships, ideally within the non-profit, research, or technology sectors. Experience working with international organizations or on projects related to the UN Sustainable Development Goals is a plus.
  • Strategic Acumen: You possess strong analytical and strategic thinking skills, enabling you to identify promising partnership opportunities, assess their potential impact, and develop effective collaboration strategies.
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: You're an excellent communicator with strong interpersonal skills, capable of building rapport and fostering collaborative relationships with diverse stakeholders, including internal teams, external partners, and senior leaders. You are responsive and resilient to challenging, ambiguous and sometimes changing objectives.
  • Project Management Skills: You are able to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritizing tasks effectively, and delivering results on time and within scope. You are also experienced at managing funding budgets, and defining, measuring and maximising the impact of programs.
  • Domain Knowledge: You have a keen interest in and understanding of Generative AI technology, and are familiar with the challenges and opportunities associated with applying areas such as  life sciences, sustainability and education. You seek continual self-improvement through learning and growth.
  • Collaborative Spirit: You thrive in a team environment and are eager to contribute your expertise and collaborate effectively with colleagues across different functions. 
  • Proactive problem-solver: You understand the importance of doing outstanding work and are motivated by achieving results and being part of a team. 

In addition, the following would be an advantage: 

  • Experience working with AI technologies or within a ML research-intensive environment.
  • Familiarity with Google DeepMind's work and mission.
  • A network of contacts within the climate and environment sectors.
