THE JOB / Account Manager, Client Services (Financial Services Client)

CLIENT SERVICES / Responsible for supporting Octagon’s client business and day-to-day management of client programs.

***Our headquarters are in Stamford, CT, but the location of this position can be flexible with a priority given to candidates open to hybrid work (3 days week in office) in one of our office locations - - Stamford, CT, New York, NY, Charlotte, NC, or Atlanta, GA.***

But what will I do? Glad you asked. It’s all about the relationships! You’ll support the team in working closely with clients, as well as internal groups (Strategy, Creative, Branded Experiences), and external agency partners to assist with the management our client’s sponsorships and develop programs across MLB, NFL, Motorsports and our client’s newest partnership in soccer. You’ll spearhead collaboration on a collection of programs and experiences that embody our client’s brand while harnessing the uniqueness and spirit of each campaign.

The Account Manager will report to the Group Account Director.

THE WORK YOU’LL DO

  • Support day-to-day team functions to help the team succeed
  • Work closely with financial services clients, sports teams, and leagues
  • Work side-by-side with teammates in Insights & Strategy to arm and inform clients with appropriate data and critical strategic information
  • Prepare necessary documents supporting strategic planning and ideation, sponsorship evaluations, competitive reviews, POVs, property research, etc.
  • Coordinate projects with agency partners and internal Octagon resources
  • On select campaigns, serve as project lead and integrator overseeing cross functional teams. Work to include timelines, budgets, program plans, and recaps
  • Represent client’s best interests with sponsored properties to improve existing investments, provide insights, and track contractual assets
  • Develop a working knowledge and understanding of financial service client’s business initiatives and marketing trends, serving as a subject matter expert as you build your knowledge base
  • Manage and oversee the development of one full-time employee
  • Additional projects as assigned

WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR

  • A passion and expertise in sports, cause, entertainment, gaming, music and/or celebrity & lifestyle culture
  • 4-6 years’ work experience in sports sponsorship and/or client management
  • A savvy marketer and champion of fresh thinking
  • The approach that no job is too small or too big
  • A go-getter who demonstrates initiative and welcomes new challenges
  • Ability to handle multiple programs simultaneously with strong attention to detail
  • The ability to forecast and mitigate issues/challenges optimally
  • A team builder and collaborator
  • History of building positive relationships, both internally and externally – finding opportunities to contribute with every interaction
  • Ability to lead client meetings, and partner conversations keeping all parties on task, on time and on budget
  • Strong leadership presence, with the ability to communicate concisely, persuasively and optimally, through both written and verbal mediums
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Publisher)
  • Flexibility and willingness to travel domestically and work weekends or holidays as needed. Anticipated travel level: Low (0-15%)

The base range for this position is $60,000 – 65,000. Where an employee or prospective employee is paid within this range will depend on, among other factors, actual ranges for current/former employees in the subject position; market considerations; budgetary considerations; tenure and standing with the company (applicable to current employees); as well as the employee’s/applicant’s background pertinent experience, and qualifications.
