JOB OVERVIEW:

EPIC is seeking an experienced Operational Controller/Accountant to join its Greyling Team in their Alpharetta, GA office.  The position is responsible for establishing an annual business plan for the team and monitoring the delivery of the plan during the year.  The role reports to a Managing Principal within the team.  The position involves working with the broker teams to invoice insurance premiums to clients, reconcile insurer invoices, pay the insurers, monitor internal costs, coordinate with the EPIC Corporate Finance Team, coordinate vendors and consultants.  The role involves frequent communication with insurance carriers, clients and staff (including leadership).

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:

  • Experienced accounting professionals: MUST have extensive senior-level accounting experience, including (but not limited to), preparing & overseeing financial statements, P&L statements, invoicing & cash collections, market relations/invoicing payments, supervisory experience, created budgets & presenting to leadership team, and approval responsibility for expenditures for the budget.
  • Candidates with strong communication skills: This role communicates regularly with internal and external clients. 
  • Strong presentation skills & experience interfacing with leadership: This role is part of the regular leadership team meetings, including developing an annual budget, presenting and regularly monitoring the budget, and reporting on budgets and financial statements to the leadership team.
  • Adept at operational and project management: This role will have the opportunity to oversee & lead operational improvements for the team, leading projects and process improvements.
  • Previous insurance industry experience is highly desirable but not required. Experience working for architecture, engineering or construction industries is a plus.

 

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

A detailed list of job duties includes (but is not limited to):

•    Supervises two team members
•    Preparation of preliminary monthly income statements, balance sheets and cash flow statements; 
•    Analyze/research expense and revenue variances with forecast;
•    Assist in reviewing G/L coding for operating expenses;
•    Distribution of Income Statement to Managers;
•    Review balance sheet reconciliations;
•    Miscellaneous projects and other duties as assigned.

 

WHAT YOU’LL BRING:

 

KEY COMPETENCIES:

•    Knowledge of Insurance industry is preferred but not required.
•    Good communication skills to interface with Insurance carriers, clients, insurance broker teams, firm leadership and vendors.
•    Ability to supervise staff.
•    Ability to train staff in billing issues.
•    Ability to establish and monitor an annual budget for the Greyling Team and interface with EPIC corporate finance.
•    Attention to detail and accuracy as a must in the position.
•    Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra.
•    Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variable in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

•    Bachelors degree in Accounting or related field required, or its equivalent.  
•    Must have 5+ years of experience in financial accounting at an assistant or manager level.
•    Experience in the Insurance Industry is highly desirable
•    Must have advanced working knowledge of a variety of Microsoft Office computer software applications in word processing, spreadsheets, database, and presentation software. Sagitta software experience is nice to have but not required.
•    Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to juggle multiple competing tasks and demands.
•    Must have high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations.  Position continually requires teamwork, demonstrated poise, tact, and diplomacy.

 Ability to travel independently to clients; some air travel may be required.

 

COMPENSATION: 

The base pay offered will be determined based on your experience, skills, training, certifications and education, while also considering internal equity and market data.
