We're hiring a Senior Newsletter Writer/ Analyst to own our Payments coverage and contribute to our Financial Services research more broadly at EMARKETER.

The Role and Team:

EMARKETER’s Briefings are a suite of subscription newsletters reaching tens of thousands of business professionals every single day, and we’re looking for a Writer/ Analyst to join our Payments team. 

As Senior Analyst, you will be responsible for conducting and presenting researched articles, reports, and data analysis, as well as staying on top of changes in payments players and innovations. 

You’ll be in the know about everything related to consumer payment habits, credit and debit cards, BNPL, digital wallets, P2P networks, fintechs, and more, creating a reputation as a trusted, data-driven expert on the industry and a go to resource both internally and externally.  

This role requires a deep understanding of the business of payments as an integral part of the financial services industry. The position is ideally suited for  someone with drive and the willingness and knowledge to put a stake in the ground on future predictions, trendlines, and disruptors. 

The role will report directly to the Director of Editing under Briefings and have no direct reports.

This is a high-profile role with the opportunity for the right candidate to develop a significant market presence.

This is a hybrid role working from our New York City HQ at One Liberty Plaza two times a week.

Responsibilities include:

  • Own the Payments Innovation Briefing, a thrice-weekly newsletter that goes out to top payments executives and decision-makers. 
  • Create forward-looking original insights to guide client decision-making on trends, disruptions and challenges.
  • Deliver tightly structured, insightful and actionable articles and long-form reports tailored to the key needs of our audience.
  • Ensure all deliverables include sharp data analytics, meet our high quality standards, publish on schedule and provide actionable insights that help clients get their jobs done.
  • Collaborate with researchers, forecasters, editors, and cross-functional teams on client-centric content.
  • Engage proactively with peers through social media like LinkedIn, at major conferences, and in the media.
  • Represent EMARKETER at conferences, webinars, and in media as an industry thought leader.
  • Join sales calls on an ad hoc basis to talk about your research.
  • Deliver on sponsored and paid presentations, webinars and podcasts
  • Stay on top of changing patterns in your industry.

Desired Skills & Experience:

  • Background in a role involving writing and analysis centered on payments and financial services (e.g., market research, data-driven journalism, consulting); ideally with a few years of industry experience.
  • Public speaking experience with client presentations, industry events, media appearances and/or webinars.
  • Expertise in creating and delivering memorable, story-driven presentations. 
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize as assignments shift in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Exceptional writing, charting, data comparison, and analysis skills.
  • Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills.

  • Base salary: $95,000-$100,000 (dependent on skills, experience, and competencies)
