job purpose:
The Engineering Document Controller manages and maintains the controlled distribution and storage of all technical documentation throughout its lifecycle, ensuring accuracy, compliance with quality and regulatory standards, and efficient retrieval for project teams.
responsibilities:
- Establish and maintain document control systems for engineering drawings, specifications, procedures, and technical documentation using industry-standard document management software.
- Review incoming engineering documents for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with company standards and procedures.
- Coordinate with project teams to ensure proper document workflows, including revision control, distribution, and archival.
- Process engineering change requests and maintain revision histories for all technical documentation.
- Perform quality checks on electrical and mechanical drawings, ensuring adherence to relevant codes and standards.
- Manage the document numbering system and maintain proper filing structures for easy retrieval.
- Create and update document registers, transmittal records, and drawing lists.
- Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and clients for document submissions and approvals.
- Support project handover activities by ensuring complete documentation packages.
- Train team members on document control procedures and best practices
- Ensure project document control standards and issued documentation meets the contract requirements.
- Monitor changes to engineering drawings and update documentation as needed (P&ID’s, DWGs, As-Bulits, etc.)
- Assists in creating new policies and procedures that deal with document storage, sharing, sending, and destruction.
skills/qualifications required:
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Document Control
- Advanced level MS Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
- 5+ years’ AutoCAD experience
- 5+ years’ experience with Autodesk Vault
- 5+ years’ experience with engineering, architecture, facility and construction documents (i.e., maps, drawings, technical specifications, P&ID’s, As-Builts, etc.)
- Strong communication skills and understanding of technical terminology.

Base pay range:
$90,000 - $120,000 USD
