Figure is an AI Robotics company developing a general purpose humanoid. Our humanoid robot, Figure 02, is designed for commercial tasks and the home. We are based in Sunnyvale, CA and require 5 days/week in-office collaboration. It's time to build.

We are looking for a Lab Manager to oversee and manage our state-of-the-art labs, ensuring they are fully equipped, compliant, and optimized for collaboration and innovation. The Lab Manager serves as the primary interface between the labs and the broader organization, ensuring the efficient operation, safety, and resource planning of the laboratory environment. This role requires managing lab equipment, coordinating with various teams, overseeing lab setups, and maintaining compliance with safety standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the procurement, installation, and maintenance of laboratory equipment, including developing and managing relationships with vendors and service providers
  • Create and implement systems for equipment calibration schedules and maintenance tracking
  • Design and execute lab space optimization strategies to maximize efficiency and collaboration
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to plan and manage shared lab resources
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive inventory management systems
  • Partner with Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) teams to ensure compliance with safety regulations and best practices
  • Manage logistics for shipping, receiving, and coordinating with contractors
  • Support build setups for customer projects and maintain project tracking systems
  • Create and implement processes for space utilization and resource allocation

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physical Sciences, or related field, or equivalent practical experience
  • 5+ years of experience managing Electrical Engineering or Hardware laboratory environments
  • Demonstrated understanding of electronics and mechanical systems
  • Experience working with EHS protocols and safety compliance requirements
  • Track record of successful space planning and resource management
  • Strong project management and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities

Bonus Qualifications:

  • Experience with robotics or AI laboratory environments
  • Knowledge of ISO standards and laboratory certification processes
  • Background in lean manufacturing or 6S methodology
  • Experience with laboratory information management systems (LIMS)
  • Additional certifications in safety management or related fields
  • Experience managing technical documentation systems

The US base salary range for this full-time position is between $150,000 - $225,000 annually.

The pay offered for this position may vary based on several individual factors, including job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package may also include additional components/benefits depending on the specific role. This information will be shared if an employment offer is extended.
