
Temporary Communications Professional

The Forbes Corporate Communications team is seeking a Communications Professional for a 6-month temporary role (August 2025–January 2026) to support the Corporate Communications Team. Reporting to the Chief Communications Officer, this role is ideal for an experienced Corporate Communications professional who can quickly step in to provide thoughtful, strategic, and operational support to the Communications Team at Forbes.
Our office operates as a remote and hybrid workforce, with in-person collaboration expected for certain roles. Based on the responsibilities of this position, a hybrid work schedule with potential in-person office days each month at our Jersey City, NJ headquarters and/or New York City Event Space is expected.
Responsibilities:
Messaging
- Develop messaging and positioning for the brand and ensure its alignment with PR strategies and priorities. This may include writing all-employee memos, thought leadership content, pitches, press releases, media invitations, social media content, bios, and more.
- Craft proactive, strategic pitches that advance Forbes’ brand as a trusted media outlet, promotes our editorial and business, and connects to our purpose and mission.
- Assist with media outreach leading up to and during Forbes' custom events or LIVE summits – including the Under 30 Summit, Creator Upfronts and ForbesBLK Summit.
Issues Management
- Work in partnership with the CCO to monitor and develop strategic approach to managing potential issues that arise. Support may include assessing potential risks associated with issue and developing comms strategy.
Strategic Planning and Development
- Develop and execute strategies to promote key franchises, live events, partnerships and product launches.
- Showcase Forbes’ growth and innovation. Find new stories to highlight/ feature publicly and secure coverage.
Thought Leadership
- Identify and secure opportunities to position Forbes leaders, editors and reporters as thought leaders in their distinctive areas - exploring opportunities at high-level live/virtual events, media interviews, podcasts, broadcast opportunities and more.
Employee Engagement
- Support employee engagement strategy and communications – partnering closely with the Comms and HR team on internal comms, employee events (e.g., Town Halls) and other activities.
Media Relations
- Work in partnership with the team to develop relationships with key reporters and broadcast producers to share and promote stories and lists published by Forbes' editorial team.
- Prioritize lists and franchises that will drive news coverage for the brand, developing strategic plans for expanding the reach of Forbes’ journalism to reach more key audiences.
- Create targeted, strategic media lists (Newspaper, Radio, TV, and Online contacts) as needed for Forbes pitches using Cision and other research tools.
- Evaluate interview requests for Forbes leadership team and editorial team members, and handle media opportunities once confirmed or approved.
The ideal candidate:
- Relevant experience working in corporate communications and media relations either on the agency side or in-house in relevant industries.
- Experience managing reputational risk, issues and advising on strategy.
- Deep media relationships – specifically with broadcast producers and top-tier reporters - and a history of securing high-impact placements.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling narratives.
- Strong understanding of industry trends, news moments, and audience engagement.
- Expertise in brand storytelling, events, employee comms and media strategy.
- Ability to travel domestically if needed
The hourly rate for this role is $50.00 - $65.00.
Forbes has estimated the compensation range set forth above in good faith. The compensation range is what we believe we will offer, and ultimately pay, a successful candidate. In determining this range, we consider the experience, level of education (if applicable to the role), knowledge, skills, and abilities required to be had by a successful candidate as well as the budget and the company’s pay rates, generally.
