Position Summary
General Atlantic is looking to hire a Director of Global Benefits to join the Human Capital team in our New York office. This role will report into the Senior Vice President of Human Capital Operations, who is based in New York.
Responsibilities
The Human Capital team is looking for a strategic and experienced leader who will be responsible for designing, implementing, and overseeing General Atlantic’s global employee and executive benefits program, including health insurance, retirement plans, wellness programs, and leave policies. This person will ensure compliance with legal regulations, managing employee enrollment and communication regarding their benefits packages.
With one dedicated Benefits Administrator reporting into this role, the candidate will be responsible for:
- Benefit Plan Design: Lead a best-in-class localization strategy that balances a best-in-class program, strong employee value with budget considerations.
- Retirement Programs: Undertake a review of current global retirement offerings and articulate a future strategy and plan.
- Vendor Management: Research and select benefit advisors / providers, negotiate contracts, monitor performance and spend.
- Employee Engagement Strategy: Drive engagement and education strategy for employees to understand their benefits options and cost-impact/service.
- Change Management: Ability to drive change within the organization and shift expectations of both management executives and employees.
- Cost Management: Design a system to track benefits utilization and spend data in a more sophisticated matter to proactively identify cost-saving opportunities and manage plan budgets. Generate reports on utilization and cost trends.
- Alternative Funding Strategies: Showcase ability to consider and drive alternative funding strategies to reduce expense, such as a transition to self-funding or other.
- Market Research: Stay updated on industry trends and emerging benefit options to maintain a competitive package.
- Collaboration with broader Human Capital: Partner with the HCM team to integrate benefits with overall employee and talent acquisition strategy.
- Compliance Oversight: Ensure all benefit plans adhere to federal and state regulations, including ERISA, HIPAA, and COBRA, as well as applicable international compliance regulations in those countries where GA has a local presence.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Minimum of 10-15 years of relevant work experience in global benefits
- Highly analytical coupled with strong intuition; able to think and react quickly. Ability to analyze data and identify trends to inform benefit decisions
- Strong project management skills – time management, pattern recognition, prioritization and strong judgement are critical; ability to work well under pressure without compromising quality
- Strong attention to detail, exceptional follow through and consistently delivers results
- Ability to work independently and proactively in a high performing global organization
- Highly collaborative and capable of working effectively cross functionally
- Demonstrated maturity and professional presence; comfortable interacting with senior executives
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Highly motivated, inquisitive, and positive can-do attitude
- Strong understanding of regulations related to employee benefits and ability to navigate nuances in new markets

General Atlantic offers a robust reward program to all employees that will support you and your family, maintaining fulfilling, secure and healthy lives now and into the future, which includes but is not limited to medical insurance, retirement savings contributions, mental and physical health resources and an equal pay program that allows you to earn a base salary of $225,000 – 290,000 USD of which the exact amount offered will be driven by the degree to which you meet role requirements, additional special skills and experience. Additional reward programs, such as annual discretionary bonuses and long-term incentive programs, are available for eligible employees and are offered as recognition for performance and one’s contributions towards the organization’s success.
