About This Role
General Matter is seeking an Electrical Engineering generalist to design and develop electronics for our enrichment technology. As an Electrical Engineer you will act as a responsible engineer for enrichment hardware, from conception through build, test, qualification, and ultimately production operations.
Responsibilities:
- Develop high reliability electronics for General Matter's enrichment technology, with a focus in power electronics and controls.
- Systems trades, requirements capture, component selection, design analysis, schematic capture, prototyping, bring-up, debugging, design documentation, manufacturing planning, and production test for electrical designs.
- Create development and qualification testing campaigns to exercise designs to their limits and ensure reliable enrichment hardware.
- Work with experts from other teams and departments to ensure that fielded systems perform their intended function while being efficient, manufacturable, and reliable; challenge assumptions and build strong professional relationships.
Basic Qualifications:
- Evidence of exceptional ability (prior projects, portfolio of work, completed products, etc).
- Strong understanding of engineering fundamentals.
- Ability to perform trade studies and make clear recommendations using first principles and engineering fundamentals even with partial information.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- Experience in a fast-paced engineering environment or a highly technical role requiring a resourceful, entrepreneurial approach to complete tasks within tight timeframes or budget constraints.
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering.
- 3+ years of design experience designing power electronics (research and extracurricular academic projects qualify).
- Experience developing new hardware, not just incremental updates.
Additional Requirements:
- Ability to work extended hours and weekends as necessary.
