GitLab is looking for a Director of Product Marketing to drive organizational adoption of GitLab's solution through strategic positioning, messaging, and go-to-market execution at scale. This leadership role will be pivotal to GitLab's partnership with software and IT engineering teams to adopt and successfully implement GitLab's solution. Success requires a relentless focus on measurable outcomes across the team, the ability to build and lead high-performing teams, and expertise in translating complex workflow capabilities into compelling value propositions for technology leaders across GitLab's customer base.
As the Director of Product Marketing, you will lead a global team of product marketers while operating as a strategic peer to senior Product Management and GTM leadership. Your primary responsibility will be to accelerate the time it takes to positively influence market opinions about GitLab's growing technology stack and long-term vision as an industry leader. You'll be accountable for weekly reporting across your team's high priority initiatives, identifying systemic blockers to organizational adoption of latest product positioning and messaging, and executing enterprise-level initiatives that demonstrably increase the success of marketing and sales campaigns. This role reports to the Vice President of Product Marketing.

What You'll Do
- Build and scale a world-class global product marketing organization through hiring, coaching, training, and establishing and reinforcing PMM excellence standards
- Define key success metrics as part of quarterly product marketing plans; focus on key goals, associated timelines and metrics with weekly reporting in order to transparently measure results and inform decision making
- Craft engaging audience-specific marketing assets and content, including solution briefs, web content, presentations, product briefs that can be utilized globally
- Define and evolve GitLab's positioning and messaging based on audience needs, orchestration capabilities, and competitive landscape. Value messaging should map across sales and marketing stages and highlight category benefits
- Use customer and competitive research to influence product strategy and drive effective messaging and amplify value propositions that differentiate GitLab in the marketplace
- Lead cross-team marketing activities and define key GTM efforts to ensure successful public launches for technology partnerships and product introductions
- Conduct TCO and ROI analysis, develop vertical/industry specific content to help customers prepare their business case for investing in GitLab's solution
- Partner with Sales leadership to develop game-changing enablement strategies, including enterprise sales plays and competitive positioning frameworks
- Establish expertise in buyer personas and technical decision-maker journeys to optimize both self-serve and sales-assisted experiences
- Support team in setting clear goals and key results, ensuring communication and visibility across the company with regular progress sharing

- Experience in communicating collaboration models and usage-based pricing concepts
- Exceptional presentation skills with examples of customer engagements
- Strong examples of negotiating skills and influencing product management roadmaps
- Excellent planning, organizational and initiative management skills
- Executive-level communication skills and drive consensus across cross-functional teams
- Excellence in supporting multiple global initiatives across sales and marketing
- Deep understanding of enterprise tech trends and digital transformation challenges
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent preferred

The base salary range for this role’s listed level is currently for residents of listed locations only. Grade level and salary ranges are determined through interviews and a review of education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities of the applicant, equity with other team members, and alignment with market data. See more information on our benefits and equity. Sales roles are also eligible for incentive pay targeted at up to 100% of the offered base salary.

$176,100 - $333,900 USD
