Marketing and Communication Lead

Hillel BC

Role Overview

As the Marketing, Social Media, and Communications lead, you’ll be the voice behind the brand and the creative force that brings Jewish campus life to life — online and beyond. You’ll shape how students, parents, alumni, and the broader community see and connect with Hillel BC. Whether you’re posting about a student-led event, designing a campaign to highlight a new initiative, or sending out a heartfelt email update, your work helps tell our story and grow our impact. You’ll work closely with staff and students to plan, create, and share engaging content that reflects the energy and values of our community. That might mean capturing moments at an event, managing our social platforms, designing graphics, updating the website, or helping craft a consistent voice across our communications. You’ll be part of both the creative process and the strategy, with real space to bring fresh ideas forward. This is a role where creativity meets purpose. You’ll use your skills to help build community, celebrate Jewish identity, and amplify the voices of students making a difference on campus.

What You’ll Do

  • Design digital and print materials, including: Social media graphics, event branding and posters, logos and promotional assets, newsletters and holiday greetings, and more.
  • Create and manage content for Hillel BC’s social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and more), ensuring content is engaging, timely, and aligned with our mission.
  • Maintain and update Hillel BC’s website and campaign landing pages using WIX, ensuring consistency and accessibility.
  • Produce and edit short-form video content for events, student testimonials, fundraising campaigns, and program highlights.
  • Write and edit compelling content, including social media posts, website copy, student and donor communications, newsletters, and public statements, ensuring alignment with organizational tone and strategic messaging.
  • Craft timely responses and official statements under specific communication guidelines, often in collaboration with leadership, in moments that require clarity, empathy, and precision.
  • Collaborate with engagement and operations teams to develop campaigns and visual content that elevate student stories and community impact.
  • Ensure all design and communications adhere to Hillel BC’s brand guidelines and tone.
  • Monitor and apply current visual, digital, and social media trends to keep content fresh, inclusive, and culturally relevant for students.
  • Support cross-campus initiatives with creative assets tailored to diverse student audiences.
  • Oversee multiple social media accounts and maintain a cohesive and authentic brand voice across platforms.
  • Coordinate with team members and students to plan and execute content from idea to delivery.
  • Contribute to a collaborative and fast-paced team environment with flexibility and a positive, can-do attitude.

What You’ll Bring to the Job

  • 5+ years of experience in graphic design with a strong digital portfolio.
  • Strong design skills across platforms like Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, Canva, etc.
  • Experience with video editing software (e.g. Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro) is an asset.
  • Understanding of social media content strategy and paid ad formats is an asset.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and communicate proactively.
  • Passion for visual storytelling and branding with a strategic mindset.
  • Familiarity with Jewish culture and traditions.

What You’ll Receive

  • A base salary of $50,000–$60,000, depending on experience.
  • Comprehensive health benefits package and an additional $500 wellness allowance.
  • Monthly bus pass or campus parking covered.
  • Professional development opportunities and meaningful mentorship.
