Bankruptcy & Restructuring Associate - New York

Ice Miller seeks a highly motivated associate to join our Bankruptcy & Restructuring practice group in New York City.  Ideal candidates will have one (1) to three (3) years of experience.

About the Role:

This is an exciting opportunity for a newer attorney to work on sophisticated and high-impact bankruptcy, restructuring, and distressed investing matters alongside a collaborative and dynamic team.

The ideal candidate will have experience representing a wide array of stakeholders in corporate bankruptcy proceedings and out-of-court restructurings, and a demonstrated interest in complex financial transactions and litigation related to insolvency.

Responsibilities:

  • Advise clients on distressed investment strategies
  • Assist clients in secured lending transactions, workouts, loan modifications, and financial recapitalizations
  • Support litigation efforts in bankruptcy-related disputes, including contested matters, adversary proceedings, and plan objections
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of legal documents including financing agreements, restructuring support agreements, court pleadings, and transactional contracts
  • Conduct legal research and provide strategic advice on bankruptcy, commercial, and UCC-related matters
  • Collaborate with partners and senior attorneys on case strategy, business development, and client relationship management

Requirements:

  • J.D. from an accredited law school with strong academic credentials
  • At least one (1) year of experience practicing law in a law firm or in-house environment
  • Active law license in New York
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent analytical skills and business judgement
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • Must have permanent authorization to work in the United States
