Location: Mountain View, California, required 5 days/week in office
Team: Data Platform
Reports to: VP of Product, Platform
About the Role
ID.me is seeking a Principal Product Manager (PPM) to lead strategy and execution for our Data Acquisition & Normalization initiatives — the backbone of how ID.me ingests, validates, and structures data powering our identity verification and fraud prevention systems.
In this role, you will define how identity data is sourced, standardized, and governed across ID.me’s network. You’ll collaborate closely with Engineering, Data Science, Fraud, and Platform teams to ensure that data flows are accurate, compliant, and optimized for scale. The Principal PM will serve as the product lead for ingestion pipelines, schema management, and normalization frameworks that feed ID.me’s Identity Trust Graph and platform services.
This is a high-impact, senior individual contributor role for a data-savvy product leader who thrives on solving complex data problems, designing scalable systems, and shaping how data powers the identity layer of the internet.
Responsibilities
Data Strategy & Vision
- Define and drive the product vision for how identity and verification data are acquired, normalized, and governed across ID.me’s platform.
- Partner with internal stakeholders to establish clear data contracts and lifecycle standards for structured and unstructured data sources.
- Develop long-term strategy for how ID.me integrates with third-party data providers, government sources, and verification partners.
Execution & Delivery
- Lead roadmap development and delivery for data acquisition pipelines, normalization workflows, and schema versioning systems.
- Collaborate with Engineering to design scalable ingestion and transformation architectures that ensure high data quality and availability.
- Define data validation and enrichment standards to maintain consistency across ID.me’s Identity Trust Graph and associated domain graphs.
- Partner with the Fraud Analytics, Compliance, and Platform teams to ensure data integrity supports identity verification, risk assessment, and audit requirements.
Cross-Functional Leadership
- Act as the connective tissue between Data Engineering, Platform, Fraud, and Analytics teams to align data priorities and drive end-to-end execution.
- Collaborate with the Platform organization to ensure normalized data integrates seamlessly into APIs, events, and downstream analytics.
- Influence architectural decisions and product trade-offs that balance accuracy, performance, and compliance.
Governance & Compliance
- Establish data lineage and audit frameworks for compliance with NIST 800-63, HIPAA, FedRAMP, and GDPR.
- Partner with Security and Legal to ensure all data ingestion and sharing practices adhere to regulatory and privacy standards.
- Implement metadata and cataloging solutions to enhance discoverability, transparency, and governance.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related technical field.
- 10+ years of product management experience, with at least 5+ years focused on data platforms, ingestion, or infrastructure products.
- Demonstrated success delivering large-scale data pipelines or normalization systems in a high-growth or regulated environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Deep technical understanding of ETL/ELT architectures, data lakes, and real-time streaming frameworks (e.g., Kafka, Spark, Airflow).
- Experience defining and managing data schemas, contracts, and version control at scale.
- Familiarity with data governance frameworks, metadata management, and cataloging tools.
- Exposure to identity, fintech, or fraud detection systems where data provenance and accuracy are critical.
- Strong understanding of compliance requirements (NIST 800-63, HIPAA, FedRAMP, GDPR).
- Excellent communication, storytelling, and stakeholder management skills.
- Proven ability to operate as a senior IC — influencing across engineering, compliance, and product without direct authority.
Key Success Metrics
- Data Quality: Reduction in schema errors, duplication, and inconsistencies across data sources.
- Data Availability: SLA adherence for ingestion and normalization pipelines.
- Compliance: Successful completion of data audits and regulatory reviews.
- Integration Velocity: Time-to-adopt for new data sources or partners.
- Cross-Team Adoption: Uptake of standardized data schemas and frameworks across ID.me teams.
