The Role: Seasonal Machine Operator Level 2
Availability: Full-time with an ability to work mornings, afternoons, and occasional overtime, holidays and weekends.
Reporting to the Room Manager, the Machine Operator is responsible for setting up, tearing down, cleaning, operating, preventative maintenance and performing minor service to various pieces of production machinery. We will provide training of the machine to ensure you are fully up to speed! What you do (responsibilities):
- Understand and demonstrate safe working practices and address any area of concern to Room Management when necessary
- Communicate with and train staff to follow machine SOPs
- Execute set-ups, adjustments, disassembly, routine cleaning and preventative maintenance of all machines used
- Perform production processes such as: packing, pouring, pressing, unmolding, glittering, wrapping, ribboning and labelling duties
- Set-up and stage materials, molds, and equipment needed for production purposes
- Carry out duties effectively and efficiently to positively impact KPIs (fulfillment, material variance, safety stock, etc.) and ensure agreed upon daily targets are achieved
- Perform general housekeeping and equipment maintenance duties
- Supports new or returning staff as required with onboarding, demonstrations of daily duties and responsibilities while ensuring safety and SOP guidelines are being followed
- Adhere to all Sustainability best practices (recycling, composting and waste management/reduction procedures)
- Understand the importance of and accurately count product inventory when required
- Support production related duties as required based on manufacturing demand
Who you are (qualifications):
Required:
- Current Lush employee
- Health and safety competency
- Technical aptitude; familiarity with mechanics, pneumatic and basic PLC controls
- Able to troubleshoot and resolve stops on machinery
- Familiar with Lock Out / Tag out practices
- Maintain and update machine SOPs when required
- Able to communicate effectively with others and work well in both individual and team environments
- Able to provide information to help improve processes and how to improve workflow
- Able to operate beginner and advanced production equipment (ie. Labelling line, Vmag)
- Able to perform all required Production Assistant duties
- Able to do physical work for 8-hour shifts, on your feet and lift 50 pounds
- Capable of physical activities such as standing for long durations, bending down, pulling, and pushing
- Able to work a variety of shifts, shift work, overtime, weekends, and holidays
- Comfortable with reading, writing, and speaking English in order to communicate with peers and leadership on all platforms (i.e. in person, via email, via Google/Teams chat)
- Flexibility to work within the Distribution, Digital and Manufacturing businesses as required
- Confident with basic mathematics, ability to count, including addition and subtraction
- Reliable, consistent attendance, punctual and dependable
- Commitment to abide by and oversee good quality and good manufacturing practices
- Commitment to abide by and oversee health & safety regulations
Preferred:
- Experience successfully completing Lock Out / Tag out practices
- Secondary school diploma or relevant work experience in a trade or machine operator
- Previous experience working with a Label Line machine or machine of similar complexity
- Previous Lush experience as a Seasonal Machine Operator
- Previous experience working in a variety of manufacturing rooms
- Technical qualification/certification or mechanical aptitude
